Hiroki Chiba wants to make a World of Final Fantasy sequel but it's up to Square Enix

World of Final Fantasy series director Hiroki Chiba has revealed in an interview with Famitsu that he wants to make a World of Final Fantasy sequel, and has in fact already written it.

But he was also quick to be clear that there are currently no plans for a sequel and it's up to Square Enix.

This is far from the first time a Final Fantasy writer has stated they want to make a sequel to a game they wrote. Final Fantasy X series lead scenario writer Kazushige Nojima revealed following the launch of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster that he wants to make a Final Fantasy X-3 and already has the story in mind but said it was up to Square Enix.

It seems possible that the launch of World of Final Fantasy Maxima will help Square Enix decide if they want to green-light a sequel to World of Final Fantasy. But of course, it's also worth keeping in mind sales aren't the only deciding factor as Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster was very successful, selling well over a million copies and outselling World of Final Fantasy comfortably.
