Footage of Final Fantasy XV's First Chapter Released

Written by Darryl — 07 Apr 2016

There has been a whole boat load of information relating to Final Fantasy XV released since Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV and it doesn't look like it's going to die down any time soon. The latest piece of content relates to the game's first chapter, specifically, footage has now been released which highlights what players will be doing as the game kicks off.

The footage come courtesy of Game Informer, who were able to spend time in Japan speaking with Hajime Tabata and experiencing some of the game's nuances. In the video (seen here), Tabata talks through the start of the game and how players will find themselves in a situation that's not too dissimilar to that encountered by the protagonists in Final Fantasy II. They will be faced with a difficult challenge, which they won't be able to overcome, and this will then lead into the first chapter of the game.

It's at this point that you will end up pushing your broken down car a lot. They wanted to use this to help people take in the world around, as opposed to just breezing past it. You will head to Hammerhead to fix your car, but after that things will open up. They want to encourage you to explore, but they also wanted to ensure that it's not completely open world, that you are guided into certain directions. Freedom is a secondary objective, story is the primary objective.

However, Chapter 1 itself will have plenty to do. There will be mini-games, such as fishing to take part in and they wanted to instil a sense of freedom.

Enjoy the footage and thanks to Game Informer for taking the time to share it with everyone.
