As mentioned in one of our previous articles, Final Fantasy XIV: What To Expect In 3.1x, Final Fantasy XIV's director/producer Naoki Yoshida has gone into more detail about what to expect in patch 3.1.

Patch 3.1 is called "As Goes Light, So Goes Darkness". This is to go along with the fact that this patch's storyline will focus heavily on the Warrior of Darkness along with the Dragonsong War. This patch has been delayed slightly and will be releasing in November instead of October.

Yoshida also discussed Final Fantasy XIV's newest 24-man raid, Void Ark which will have a similar setup to the Crystal Tower series that we saw in Patches 2.3 to 2.5. It'll also contain many notable bosses from Final Fantasy's past.

Airship exploration will also be expanded upon offering adventures the ability to explore islands and take on some stronger enemies. These will take place in the Sea of Clouds and from these hunts, you have the chance to get items from 3 different types of chests; bronze, silver, and gold offering the chance i210 gear.

If you are travelling as part of a Free Company, you will have a chance at some exclusive bonuses. Don't fret if you aren't though, as you will be able to still take part. You can take the airship from Ishgard with either a party or by yourself, however, you won't have access to the bonuses.

The Gold Saucer will also be getting an upgrade with the addition of Lord of Verminion which sees Minions fighting against each other. Defeat your opponent's Arcana stone and you win! There are 5 different modes to choose from including tutorial, training, challenge, battle, and tournament with matching based on your performance.

Additionally, we'll be getting a few new housing items including a moogle design and the Haurchefant painting and finally, a new relic weapon quest will also be coming.

As mentioned, this patch will be releasing early November so stay tuned for more information! Also if you'd like to watch us play, check out our new Final Fantasy XIV Let's Play series!
