Square Enix Reveals Their Plans For The Future

Written by Lauren — 06 Nov 2013

Rumors have been spreading like wildfire regarding Square Enix's future for the past year, especially with the arrival of the company's new president. Now some information has been released and fans are finally getting a bit in insight as to what they're planning.

Firstly, the Western studios will be focusing mostly on online based titles which is understandable with the huge success Square Enix had with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Square Enix seems to be taking some notes from free to play titles and are looking to earn some money from variable earnings (i.e. through costumes and other extras).

Secondly, Square Enix's Japan studios will focus mostly on titles for smartphones and tablets with titles like Final Fantasy Agito and the Dragon Quest ports.

Lastly, with Square Enix covering Japan and the West, they're also hoping to expand more in Asia with plans to bring Final Fantasy XIV to mainland China and license titles like Kaku-San-Sei Million Arthur to publishers in Asia.

Let us know what you think of these projected plans in the comments below. Do you think it's a wise decision?
