We're back with another character spotlight, now featuring Final Fantasy XIII-2's ominous antagonist Caius Ballad and his travelling companion, a mysterious young girl that bears a familiar name, Paddra Nsu-Yeul.

Caius Ballad
The man with the badass voice. Donned in tight body armour and equipped with the mighty Ragnarok blade, Caius appears to have a bone to pick with Noel and Serah for distorting the space-time continuum in their search for Lightning. He comes across as extremely cold and intimidating, always keeping his cool even in the face of a challenging enemy.

Caius is first seen doing battle with Lightning in Valhalla, and despite their fierce exchange of blades, are well-matched and unable to fell one another. As Etro's chosen champion, Lightning stands in the way of Caius and his elusive objectives, and vice versa with Caius pursuing the lives of Noel and Serah.

Just like Lightning, Caius also has a connection to a force known as Chaos. At his will, he is able to summon its powers and become a destructive force to be reckoned with.

Paddra Nsu-Yeul
Paddra Nsu-Yeul is a mysterious young girl that travels with Caius Ballad, although her reasons for doing so remain unknown. Gran Pulsian in heritage, Yeul hails from the city of Paddra in the Yaschas Massif area. With piercing green eyes and donned in the typical Gran Pulse garb, Yeul rarely ever speaks and when she does, is very soft-spoken.

As already mentioned, Yeul has ties to Caius, as well as to Lightning, Noel and Serah. It's worth noting that in a trailer, she is seen explaining to Noel and Serah that her existence is in contradiction to the timeline. She also says to Serah that the two of them are more alike than she thinks, suggesting that perhaps Serah has some kind of power she has yet to discover.

What's fascinating is that Yeul bears the exact same name as an ancient seeress from Gran Pulse. In fact, the exact one that prophesied the War of Transgression and wrote the fourth and ninth Analects that tell of the coming of Ragnorok and the emergence of Eidolons.

Tomorrow we'll shine the spotlight on Team NORA as well as Snow Villiers and what their apparent roles are in Final Fantasy XIII-2, which is out on January 31 in North America and February 3 in Europe for both PS3 and Xbox 360.
