Wada Addresses Final Fantasy Versus XIII's Exclusivity

Versus XIIIPS3X360 by Damian

Speaking in a meeting with investors yesterday, Yoichi Wada, CEO of Square-Enix, was asked about the platform exclusivity of Final Fantasy Versus XIII and if it an Xbox 360 release would ever be possible.

Since Versus XIII's reveal in 2006, the title has always been advertised as a PlayStation 3 exclusive worldwide. The reply that Wada gave however, was a complete contradiction, saying that Square-Enix would be "looking into it."

This news obviously travelled fast online, with PlayStation 3 fans complaining about the loss of another Final Fantasy exclusive, and Xbox 360 fans gloating that Versus XIII would be on their system too.

However, with the news that his words had sparked another online argument between gamers, Wada decided to post on his twitter account earlier today:

"It looks like the 'net is heating up. Versus on Xbox? What I said at the earnings press conference was just that until a formal announcement is made at the announcement time, all points about all titles are not finalised."

So? What does that mean? Basically that nothing is confirmed and nothing is denied either. Don't go out buying an Xbox 360 expecting Final Fantasy Versus XIII to be on the system, but don't be completely shocked if it's not PlayStation 3 exclusive either. Everything is still pending.

Whatever happens with Versus XIII, you can be sure that we'll be here to bring you the news as soon as humanly possible. So check back regularly.
