Technical Issues Delayed Final Fantasy XIV On PS3
So as we learned last week, PC users will be getting a head start with Final Fantasy XIV beginning September 30. However, PlayStation 3 users have to wait until March 2011 before they can begin partying it up online and the userbase obviously isn't very happy about it, shouting out comments of disappointment. Square Enix released a statement about the issue, apologizing for the delay.
“We understand the wrath of players and developers are sorry because they did everything they could to have a simultaneous release date, but unfortunately they have encountered many technical problems on the development of the game for PS3. We strive to release the game as soon as possible.”
Keep in mind that March 2011 is an estimated and still tentative date that's up for change should the occasion call for it. If these technical issues continue on, the date may well be pushed back even further. Vice versa, if they're fixed, Final Fantasy XIV just might see an earlier release on the PlayStation 3.
When asked about the PS3's release date, director Hiromichi Tanaka said, “if possible, we would publish the game sooner, we would like to start as soon as possible the beta on PS3.”
