With Final Fantasy XIII very close to release on Western shores, and Final Fantasy XIV expected to be released worldwide later this year, Yoshinori Kitase, the producer of Final Fantasy XIII, is already talking about the next numbered instalment to the giant RPG franchise: Final Fantasy XV (15).

Speaking to Xbox 360 World, Kitase stated "We've got a few ideas for Final Fantasy XV lined up, but there is no singular aim for where we want the series to go. Final Fantasy can go in all directions; each one is very different from the last. The one thing we set out to do is to make sure we tell a story that hasn't been told before."

So there you have it. Square-Enix recently said that they don't want the franchise to disappear anytime soon and it sounds like they meant it, especially with two other known Final Fantasy titles, Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII also in the works.

Something for people to consider however, is will Final Fantasy XV be finished in time for this generation of consoles? One would hope that with the knowledge the development team has gained from creating Final Fantasy XIII, the time to complete Final Fantasy XV would be significantly shorter.
