PSM3 Magazine, one of the main magazines in the United Kingdom, have managed to get their hands on Final Fantasy XIII for their March 2010 Edition. However, their review wasn't overly flattering.
They gave the game 70%, which by video game standards is as average is it comes - not exactly promising news. This is just one publication though, and they are generally quite harsh. Time will tell if other publications have a similar opinion, as other magazines also publish their scores ahead of the game's release in a month's time.
Either way, we've been waiting a hell of a long time for this game and even if it doesn't meet the high standards that Square Enix have set for the franchise, there will certainly be a lot of hours clocked on this bad boy.

With 6 reviews done so far, FF XIII has a Metacritic score of 86/100. Not a bad start at all...

HEEY LOOK ITS PSM3! The same morons that gave Uncharted 2 a 21/20. >.< This mag has 0 credibility in my book since they pulled that stunt.

The only review I'll accept on FF XIII is the one that GU does. That doesn't mean that I don't trust what other reviewers say... but I just want to wait and see all reviews with GU being at the top of the chain.
Quick question though to the staff: Who on the team will be reviewing XIII? Do any of you guys reserve games that you want to review? :)

Well, I kinda expect western reviewers to dislike FF XIII. It takes a fan to buy it and like it, so its lucky that FF has a pretty decent fan-base (or so I hear :p). I don't care what they think, I'll find out for myself when I get it.

It was already said. We shouldnt bother so much about those "reviews".
Imo the "360 excusive DLC" is the bigger problem.
Not that im a PS3 Fanboy but i dont own a 360 and wont buy one.
And if the DLC is rly "exclusive" that would bother me.
I mean it doesnt seem to stay "exclusive" forever like the GTA DLC.
Cause that will be released for PS3 now too, as far as i know.
But it still bothers me, to wait 2 years or longer for the DLC <_<

PSM players must be retarded to spend more time in Crystarium then crafting. Once you figure out combos for teams, you just go. There is not really a chance to think, it is a pretty straight shot. Increase Strength / Magic, Increase HP, learn new move or ability (more items to attach, ATB up). Once you know how you want to play, you do it.
These guys must praise FF VII as the best because that is where their timeline starts for talking about Final Fantasy, they don't talk about the ...track record SE/SS has/had with RPG's.
The pre-rendered cutscenes that they talk about being beautiful, are not very common and are at major times or at the end of chapters (usually when it is big story wise). Most of the game is done on the gorgeous engine and the cutscenes were delicious.
Gotta say I'm not a fan of how these guys write because they only make references to FFVII because Lightning was based on Cloud. But I like hoe Sazh was designed after Eddie Murphy. Also says in the article they played an import copy, hence the healer, attacker, blaster in the article.
BTW - they messed up the case covers for VII and IX in the timeline. These guys sound gud.

Slash: Was this a review of the English or Japanese version?
I'm guessing because it's the March issue of the magazine, and the fact it has Heavy Rain, it is the english version of the game being reviewed here.
Kinda disappointing, but it's not like it's news anymore. I've still got the collectors edition and the limited edition guide/book pre-ordered though.
