A few weeks ago, we posted a rumour which talked about potential differences between the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Final Fantasy XIII. Well, they've now been confirmed as true in the latest edition of Famitsu Magazine in Japan.
As disclosed before, Final Fantasy XIII on the PlayStation 3 will featured lossless audio, and 1080p cutscenes, something which won't be present in the Xbox 360 version of the game. Famitsu didn't release the amount of compression that will be found in the Xbox 360 version, but they confirmed that it will indeed be compressed - even though it will be coming on multiple DVDs, it simply couldn't fit. The PlayStation 3 version is going to take advantage of a single dual-layered Blu-Ray disc, meaning it's easily possible.
As expected, it again re-iterates that the Xbox 360 version will require disc changes, like the PlayStation One Final Fantasy games, whereas the PlayStation 3 version will be more akin to those seen on the PlayStation 2.

If there wasn't a console war going on, nobody would give a S#!7...
It's just something to gloat about, I'm sure they will both look and play amazingly.
However, if it's like Beyonetta on the PS3, some people may not like it.

and then 90% of the gamers outthere who do not own a nice sound system and no 1080p tv won't notice the difference. Although I must say the best way for me to get the best sound from MGS4 was to use head phones but for the most part I know that my speakers on my moniter made the music in MGS4 downgrade :(

Square Enix has just confirmed a couple of differences between the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 release of Final Fantasy XIII. In an interview in Famitsu they state that the video and audio is compressed on the Xbox 360 DVDs while the Playstation 3 version will be uncompressed and appear on a dual-layer blu-ray disc. The 360 version will obviously be released on multiple DVDs. This means that the uncompressed game will be 25GB minimum.
Who didn't see that one coming. If they didn't compress anything i would have been very surprised.

- I never trade in games (apart from 2 dreadful games i took back 3 years ago xD)
+ I want to see which is better and i will keep it in my FF collection. I've got a feeling it'll be the PS3 version but i like playing games on 360 more so i'm getting both.
