Japanese publication Famitsu recently interviewed Tetsuya Nomura, who revealed some elegantly sparse details concerning the projects under Square Enix's 1st Production Department wing, including Final Fantasy Versus XIII and the Final Fantasy X HD remake.

As revealed late last year, Final Fantasy X HD is still early in the development stage. Nomura confirmed that they've started work on it.

As for Versus XIII, the game has supposedly improved on its visuals and looks much better than the previous trailer released last year. According to Nomura, there's a fair mix of pre-rendered events done by Square Enix's Visual Works department and real-time cinematics. The ratio is roughly 3 to 7 respectively. In fact, the scene where Stella and Noctis first meet is now pre-rendered as Nomura explained adding player-control did not add to the experience.

Unfortunately, Square Enix will not be holding a media event like they did in January last year where the company showcased works from their 1st Production Department. At the very best, Nomura added that he would like to make an announcement and to showcase Versus XIII some time this year, although he would not specify when. However, he confirmed that the next time we see it, it'll be running on playable hardware.
