News Roundup: New FF For Keitai Phones & FFXIV Release Details
I think we've had a fair bit of news this week. Although most of them concern FFXIV, but that's no real surprise since it is Square Enix's next major release. Don't forget that it's out September 30, at least on PC.
First bit of news this week, Square Enix revealed Final Fantasy Legends: Warrior of Light and Darkness. Now that's an IP that was trademarked a while ago, but we had no idea what it was until this week. Apparently it's a title that looks to bring the classic Final Fantasy experience to cell phones, at least in Japan. No word on any North American release.
Rumours about FFXIII being released on the Xbox 360 in Japan hit the webs too. Although to be honest it doesn't really make all that much sense from a business perspective. The 360 isn't exactly doing very well in Japan and most people looking to get it would've gotten the long since released PlayStation 3 version.
Speaking of FFXIII, Japan's getting a lovely drama CD to compliment the prologue Episode Zero: Promise, which can be read on the official site. Voice actors Maaya Sakamoto (Aeris from Advent Children and Lightning in FFXIII), Daisuke Ono along with other characters will be voicing their respective roles.
Now on to the Final Fantasy XIV coverage, seems like we've doing a lot of that lately and it is certainly getting me excited for it's release. Square Enix have finalized the recommended system requirements for a "smooth playing experience." If you've got a pretty old computer, it might be time to upgrade as it appears FFXIV will be quite demanding. I know I'll be getting new PC. The game will also launch with 18 classes for you to pick for your character, that's quite the number and Square Enix is looking to add even more after the release.
How many of you are actually planning on getting FFXIV? Because if there's enough, I smell a potential guild creation looming over the horizon.
