Some impressive new scans have surfaced on the internet from the current edition of V-Jump Magazine, which show off some of Final Fantasy XIII's free-roaming battle mechanic.

Like Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy XIII will not have random battles and instead, players will be able to choose whether they interact with enemies. Should they choose to, they will instantly be engaged in a battle, which is shown in the first scan.



Also revealed in the scan is the full name of the character previously called Vanilla. Her full name is Oerba Dia Vanille, which is still quite a mouthful even if it doesn't sound as ridiculous anymore.
