James Stevenson, marketing manager of Insomniac Games, has recently been speaking of Sony's line-up of games in the first-quarter of 2010 and Final Fantasy XIII was mentioned.
Stevenson declared via Twitter that the "PS3 is having a rockin' 1st quarter: MAG, Heavy Rain, White Knight Chronicles, and soon MLB10: The Show, God of War III and the superior version of Final Fantasy XIII."
Which version of Final Fantasy XIII to buy has been discussed since it was announced as a multi-platform title back in 2008. The general consensus from previews of the game, have stated on numerous occasions, that aside from a small difference in graphics, the game performs identically on both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
Generally speaking, if you own both an Xbox 360 and a PlayStation 3, the norm would be to purchase the PlayStation 3 version due to it being uncompressed. However, if you only own an Xbox 360, the game is expected to run just as good as it's PlayStation 3 counterpart. Maybe James Stevenson knows something the rest of us don't?
We will have to wait and see what happens when the game is released on the 9th of March on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Shawn: I
It seems mostly only to matter if your are a ultra-high-res graphics whore or have a full-blown surround system. As well as being adverse to disc swaps. xd
I mean, I get it... I just don't see the big deal unless you're pressing your face against your HDTV.
Also, I didn't see that they had two comparison videos uploaded. Maybe they uploaded them today or I just overlooked them.

Darryl: Insomniac generally just call it how they see it. During the same statement he said that Mass Effect 2 has been his favourite game of the year so far.
I guess I'll have to be slightly less cynical than I've previously been. :p
Honestly haven't followed them that much (haven't played/don't care for most of the games they've released), so I wouldn't have know.
Fauxbulous: I found basically the first 45minutes of gameplay of the English XBox version on this website.
Personally, I can tell the difference slightly, but really... it's a damn good port. I will get it for the PS3 because that's what I own, but I don't see the point in discouraging xbox players from buying this over something like this. I looks great on both systems. Just leave it alone.

Shawn: Well, they are essentially a Sony-platform developer (even though Sony doesn't own them IIRC), so not surprised to hear that.

Why is it such a big deal if SE makes one version even slightly better than the other? It's not like one version gets extra content or anything. Not to mention, if you didn't have them together, side by side, you couldn't tell the difference.

Well, SE have admitted that technically it is superior on PS3, but we will have to wait until western reviewers comment on it to really find out whether there is a significant difference.

At the end of the day, can't fanboys (PS & Xbox alike) join together in a common fandom and get all otaku over FF?
Make hay, not war. <3

I think he's just stating his opinion. I say the games will practically be identical, SE says so as well, but deep down I'll like my PS3 version more. That seems to be the case with Mr. Stevenson.

Hmm should be interesting to hear.
I've just pre-ordered FFXIII on Xbox for my mate for her birthday, and I'm going to get myself the PS3 version, so I'll probably steal hers at some point and see how much of a difference there is!
