Final Fantasy XIII is released today to Westerners on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and Square-Enix has managed to sneak in a very special code for all who buy the PlayStation 3 version.

Inside the case of Final Fantasy XIII, you will find a small leaflet detailing Square-Enix's Members, an online club for fans of the company and its games. This leaflet contains a code to register Final Fantasy XIII as a title that you own. Fairly straightforward. However, upon registering the game, you will receive an email from Square-Enix thanking you for your support along with yet another code.

This code is in fact, a code to get the chance to enter the Final Fantasy XIV beta on either a Windows PC or a Playstation 3 system, it's your choice. The fact that the PlayStation 3 beta has yet to be announced makes this email even more special, as it details the beta will be coming shortly after the launch of it's PC counterpart.

The email states:

"Thank you for registering your copy of FINAL FANTASY XIII for PlayStation 3!

To reward you for the passion with which you follow our games, we have prepared a special gift for you.

Below you will find a unique promotional code, with which you will receive a FINAL FANTASY XIV secret in-game item, and a chance to be one of the beta testers of FINAL FANTASY XIV for PS3.

Beta testing of the PlayStation 3 version of FINAL FANTASY XIV will begin after the start of the Windows® version's beta testing. The schedule will be announced at a later date."

So there you have it. A PlayStation 3 beta confirmed as well as a special in-game item, and it's coming very soon.
