The wait is almost over, and like you guys, we've been waiting a hell of a long time for Final Fantasy XIII. Quite a few publications have already got their hands on the game though, and the embargo for Western reviews lifts tonight at midnight.
Many of you will have already made up your mind whether to purchase the game or not, but it couldn't hurt to see the opinion of others before Tuesday, the date of the game's release.
Be sure to check back between now and then, and maybe even tomorrow, for more coverage leading up to Final Fantasy XIII's release.

Yes, ^^ he did. Good old Ryan Clements. He also said that the 360 version had "noticably lower resolution", and urged people to purchase it for PS3 if possible. ;)

gilburtgtr: Liking the reviewww! :D Let's be honest, (apart from IGN) it's the one I was really waiting for.
ILINK. From the sounds of it, Ryan liked the story and the characters.

gilburtgtr: The introduction to that article made me very angry. Oh Shawn why did you post this, I was having such a good day! :( xD I know the article is bashing Xbox (which is usually a good thing in my mind), this douchebag bases his argument on utter bullcrap. What a dick...
It's kinda funny because he's talking shit about someone else he believes is talking shit XD.

Wow, does the person who read this even realize that that PS3 version couldn't have dual-language because they'd have to include both versions of the movies, which would force the quality to go lower than the OMGPEFECT quality they say the PS3 version is? :P

Caleb: IGN US is waiting til Monday, IGN UK - 8.4 IGN AUS - 8.3
Actually IGN UK rated it 8.6. And yeah the US review will be up on Monday.
Sorry to shoot you down, but actually you're both wrong. IGN UK's rating is an 8.3, IGN AU's is an 8.4. :)

Omen: I believe so because he wasn't on the podcast and the guys said that because of the PS3 failure, he fell a day behind in the reviewing process. I'm guessing it's either FF XIII or God of War III.
I thought that was God of War actually, 'cos didn't they say all his save data got corrupted and he had to start again for the review? Hmm... he might've been XIII as well though.

I have discussed with a friend of mine who got the game imported from Japan with a limited edition PS3 lol She says that the game is worth buying. Though the fact that the free roam elements that we loved and hated from previous games has now been removed. I liked being able to free roam the map lol
My copy has been posted Play.com xD

Xephoni: Are you going to defend this game against everything that doesn't give FF13 a high score? There is a reason why so many sites have made complaints against the story. Face it Square is not what they used to be.
chill dude. Thats the only time i spoke up about a sites review. lol So cool you jets. The only other things i said in another post was that some sites didn't get both versions of the game so they cant do a comparison and that there are three sites/mags that i normally follow reviews from. lol Thats it.
i dont care about scores either, i read/watch the reviews... minus GT because they can sometimes be spoiler prone. (ex Uncharted 2) I skipped to the end of the vid to ...see the scores. (as pointless as they are) Im just state'n GT is hard on dialogue and stories, thats it. I judge games on my own experience with it. haha Take a walk. :p
lol, 15% drop? Wasn't this the site who put up that infamous graphics article that got denounced because it was baseless and false?

Kaos24: game trailers is always hard on the dialogue and don't seem to be fans of many stories from Japan considering they thought that Halo 3 had a much better story then MGS4. >.< Haven't taken them seriously since then.

penpen4: The review was great, but I found it odd that at the end they gave the story a 7.6, which they thought was the weakest quality of the game. Do you think that they based in on the dialogue or the story as a whole?

Caleb: Gametrailers review is up, and I highly recommend you guys watch it. It seemed a bit more positive in highlighting the well-executed parts of the game. the final score? 8.6.
I look forward to passing my own judgement soon :)

gamesradar gave it a 10 out of ten. So i read the whole review, and I mostly agreed with it.
Posted on March 5th, 2010, 6:27 pm (EST) by Damian
Yeah, what I mean is, from the "decent" reviews I have read that is the general topic of discussion.
Towns aren't there, but it doesn't matter.
Also some are saying it is the polar opposite to Final Fantasy XII...... :)
Posted on March 5th, 2010, 6:24 pm (EST) by Eternity
Omen: Again Gametrailers basically said there aren't any towns, but with the battle system being so good, you shouldn't miss them.
The worst part of the game according to GT was the cheesy dialog and little item/weapon customisation in the game.
By "again" do you mean thats what most of the other reviews are saying? And from some of the scenes they showed I got a sense of some cheesy dialog xD

sudo_FOO: 1Up's site only did one review for the game when it's presented on two systems. This could mean a few things:
A.) Fear over the 360 version being less superior to the PS3 (in terms of mechanics, frame rates, loading, etc.) has been quelled, seeing as how both received the same high score.
B.) They were too lazy to do console separate reviews and just copied and pasted.
B isn't so bad because it could be a result of A, but sometimes I wonder.
some places didn't receive the 360 version of the game like Game Informer. so when you only got one version, you cant do a comparison.

IGN UK review is in, it scored an 8.3 Honestly I'm not really surprised =/, I have a feeling FF13 isn't going to live up to all of the hype, even if its a good game I dont think its going to be quite up to quality with the past games.
I hate IGN UK. I mean, I know I'm British and all, but every review I read of theirs seems to dwell on totally random things that at least I (and probably most people) don't really think is a big aspect of the game. They seem to whine a lot too. I want IGN US's review, that at least is one I know will be good, and well reasoned, even if he doesn't like the game.
Omen: Edge Review 5/10. Harsh.
Thats just Edge being Edge. I mean they gave Grand Theft Auto IV a perfect 10, but Final Fantasy XIII a 5?
Just to highlight Edge being poor even more, games that lie in the same category as Final Fantasy XIII are: Haze (PS3's worst FPS ever) and Dragon Age: Origins...
This is just another stunt to get more people to their site.
Yup, EDGE suck ass. I pretty muc...h hate them too... xD

penpen4: They complained about grinding. That is ridiculous considering it is an RPG; It is almost like they want it to be easier. @_@
Well there's a difference between a game being easy and grinding. Grinding can get tedious after awhile, even if its an RPG. Another thing that concerns me is IGN UK also said the game takes awhile to get going. I mean 30 hours? really? An RPG should pull me in within the first few minutes, not the first 30 hours xD

No IGN review til the 8th. I'll be posting everyone I find here. Also Omen says Darryl got FF XIII yesterday so I'm not sure when G.U will have their review up.
Push Square: 3/4 Squares, Good. I didn't like this review. Not a great read but it's still a review. Thanks phoenixlaguz27. I never thought of googling Final Fantasy XIII Reviews...
Eurogamer: 8/10 Good read. I enjoyed the review.

I'm really looking forrward to the western reviews and scores. Like, really. I mean, it won't make a difference to me, I'm buying the game and I will enjoy it regardless, but out of interest I am dying to find out what the 'pros' think. Will there be a GU review, does anybody know?
Posted on March 4th, 2010, 2:46 pm (EST) by Damian
A perfect 10/10 then for the first review? Sounds promising to me :)
After reading about all the negative things from the game (linearity, lack of towns & exploration) this reviewer has done well to focus our attention back on the positives. Lightning does seem a little one dimensional to me BTW. I've always been more interested in the other characters
Anyways, I look forward to the other reviews that are to come, especially what this site has to say about the game.
Posted on March 4th, 2010, 2:41 pm (EST) by penpen4
Slash: First review. Pretty good as well. Worth a read. Only thing I didn't like was they said Lightning is a boring character :(.
Gamesradar's Final Fantasy XIII Review
I liked the review, too! I also agree with you about my only dislike. I really hope Lightning isn't two dimensional, but most FF protagonists have have been on the angsty side, so maybe that is what they are referring to.
Posted on March 4th, 2010, 2:05 pm (EST) by sudo_FOO
Doesn't matter what the game gets as far I'm concerned. I find it fun, and a low score from some reviewer won't change that.
And since the West doesn't really like JRPGs I'm expecting scores in the 7.0-8.5 range, SE or not.
Posted on March 4th, 2010, 1:29 pm (EST) by Kaos24
Who cares about the number. and hey, ya know not everyone likes every character. Some people think master chief is a great character, others beg to differ. same with wakka form FFX. Make sure you decide if you like the character or not from your own play through and experience.

I always pick through reviews judging by who reviewed the game. I'm interested to see what Jerrmy Parish from 1up, Ryan Clement from IGN and the guys from PS: TOM (US).
Posted on March 4th, 2010, 10:14 am (EST) by Sanrin
Most western reviewers hate rpgs unless they're from a big company. I'm sure as a result you'll see a lot of 9's from big name companies and 7-5's from smaller ones.
Posted on March 4th, 2010, 10:12 am (EST) by Damian
A lot of the reviews have been pretty strange so far, som giving the game 9.5's and som as low as 7...
I wonder what the english version will get.

I cant wait for the reviews to come out!!!
I just look at my pre-order now.......waiting..............
