Final Fantasy XIII Music Appearing On Vinyl

Square Enix have announced that a selected number of tracks will be released on a limited edition vinyl record, something that has apparently never been done before.

It's unclear why the move has been made, but the disc will become available in Japanese stores on the 26th of February. It will retail for 2,800 Yen and contain eight tracks from the Original Soundtrack which was released a few days ago in Japan.

The OST will become available in Europe on the 9th of March, the day which the game is also released on Western shores.

Ooh, I'm liking this move! I don't have a turntable myself but it's pretty shiny of them to think of this. I never associated vinyl with music 'snobbery'. To be honest. I didn't even know the sound quality was supposed to be better! I just thought of vinyl as a nice collectors type thing. So for those FF fans who actually have turntables and are collectors, I imagine they'll be all over this.

I kind of like this idea. I still have a turntable myself. If its reasonably priced i might jump on it.

I have a turntable. Some DJ really has to do some mixing with these FF vinyls! xD

Astharis:
^ It's arguable that most people can't actually hear the difference between 320kbps and anything lower for most music anyway... But let the people get on their high horse about it. :p

I wonder how many FF fans actually have a turntable.

Meeeee!!! Although it never gets used and is in a box somewhere in the attic lol
As for this being on Vinyl meh, I won't be buying it. I need to save money >,<

I'm glad if it makes the music sound better, but other wise I don't really care and propbably wont hear the difference anyway: worst. hearing. ever!

Well, that's news to me Asth. The move still doesn't make much sense but at least I can umderstand at least one argument for it.

^ 'Burt - Due to the high amount of compression that you get with CDs/MP3s, music snobs in general are leaning back towards vinyl because the dynamics are far superior to anything that we have digitally.

O-K... :/ I'm a little unsure why this has happened tbh. The only people I can think of that still use vinyl are DJs and 'old people'. WTF are they doing this for?! xD

Fanboys will go crazy for these.
But I think it makes sense considering the audio quality on the actual game.
