Final Fantasy XIII Comes Second To Mario In December

Final Fantasy XIII Comes Second To Mario In December

We're almost half way through January, but Famitsu have released sales figures for December 2009, a month which saw Final Fantasy go head to head with one of gaming's most iconic figures, Mario.

Unfortunately, Final Fantasy came out second best, as New Super Mario Bros Wii sold just under 2.5 million copies. Final Fantasy XIII only managed to sell 1.7 million, but it was still a pretty impressive showing nonetheless.

It'll be interesting to see how the game performs throughout January, as it had quite a sales drop-off in its second week.

Ahh cool :)

Are there any good pre-order bonuses?

I may pre-order it if there is, and just not play it for a month :/

there is an anime convention that my friends are forcing me to go to. Anime Boston. It's going to be during the release of FF13, so no launch FF13 for me, or pre-orders.

Yup *Nods in agreeal (is that a word?) with Omen*

Its like what Jamie talked about in FFUP (ooo i like the way 'ffup' sounds when you say it, it pops at the end! ^,^) with the whole Japanese people being unhappy cause they made it more suited to 'Our people' xD

Maybe it'll get number 1 in the UK/US

Well its number one pre-order on Amazon, Play.com and most other UK gaming sites.
Over MAG, Gran Turismo 5 etc... but not the 360 version. Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2 are ahead of it)

Famitsu have just posted figures, and it seems as though New Super Mario Bros Wii pipped Final Fantasy XIII to the post.

TBH I'm not too surprised.
The nintendo fan-base in Japan is massive & the install base of Wii's VS PS3's.. well, there is a large gap.
However, I was expecting FF XIII to do slightly better in it's home nation.

Maybe Japan is annoyed at all the "We want to make the game more western" talk from SE?
