In Final Fantasies VIII and IX, there was a trading card game in which players could play NPCs to win more cards. Square Enix have taken this idea and are applying it to the real world by creating a Final Fantasy Trading Game, although they look anything like the Triple Triad or Tetra Master games we’re used to.

Square Enix haven’t revealed any of the game rules yet but they have been promising that there is something that makes use of unique character skills and summoning cards. The cards are also said to have additional value in their artwork which ranges from CG Artwork to Anime-style.

The Trading Game is set for release 25 February 2011 with further details coming on their official site.
