Final Fantasy I Now On Wii Virtual Console

Posted on 2009/10/05 by Shawn

Square Enix and Nintendo have finally released Final Fantasy I outside of Japan on the Wii's Virtual Console. The game was released on Japan's Virtual Console earlier this year, the start of a move to release all of the pre-PlayStation Final Fantasy games on the console.

The original game on the NES, as the name suggests, was supposed to be the "final" game released by the company, due to financial difficulties. After stellar sales in Japan and later North America, the series has grown into a immense franchise with a devout and large following.

Final Fantasy I can be bought on the Wii Shop Channel's Virtual Console for 500 Nintendo Points. It can be played with the Wii Remote, Classic Controller, and the Nintendo GameCube controller.

Final Fantasy IV Released On Virtual Console In Japan

Posted on 2009/08/04 by Ronin90

Square Enix have just announced that Final Fantasy IV is now available on the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console in Japan. It looks to be a direct port of the original title that appeared all those years ago on the SNES.

Final Fantasy IV followed the quest of Cecil, as he looked to overcome his dark and shady past and destroy familiar foes. It was the first game from the Final Fantasy series to appear on the SNES.

The game is set to cost 900 Wii Points, which is less than My Life As A Darklord, that was recently released as WiiWare.

The original Final Fantasy has now seen yet another release in Japan, as it's now available for purchase on the Wii for the Virtual Console.

The game looks as you'd expect and plays like it too. So if you're in Japan and have never played the original Final Fantasy, it could be worth checking out. Either way, it'll cost you 500 Wii Points.

This could mean that Final Fantasy II will be released on the Virtual Console relatively soon, as they are usually released side-by-side.
