Sony have just announced on their PlayStation Blog, that Dissidia: Final Fantasy will be seeing a PSP bundle when it's released in North America in the summer.
The Bundle is currently scheduled to go on sale on the 25th of August, 2009 and will only be available at GameStop. The bundle will include the PSP-3000 in Mystic Silver, Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children on UMD and a 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo. It'll have a retail price of $199.99.
This obviously means that Dissidia will be coming out before the 25th of August in North America.
The bundle will be released on the 25th of August, but no release date for the actual game was confirmed at the time. Many thought that it could come after its release, like with God of War: Chains of Olympus. However, after contacting Square Enix we can officially confirm that Dissidia: Final Fantasy will launch on exactly the same day.
To repeat: Dissidia: Final Fantasy will launch on the 25th of August, 2009 in North America
Dissidia: Final Fantasy sold almost 1m copies in Japan, and it's set to be a huge success when it's released in North America.
With Dissidia: Final Fantasy being released in North America at the tail end of last year, fans were eagerly anticipating the first official North American trailer. Thankfully, Square Enix have indulged their fans and released a trailer to tide them over for the time being.
At the time of Dissidia's release in Japan, no release date was set in stone for either North America or Europe and fans around the world were still holding their breath for an announcement.
This announcement has just come, the day after the game's release in Japan. Square Enix issued a press statement, but wouldn't be tied down to an actual date in the calender as they've announced that Dissidia's North American release date will be around the middle of the year in 2009.
Usually games are much quicker to reach Western shores than this, but it could be due to the game's extensive dialogue. However, this certainly doesn't look optimistic for European gamers, as they probably won't be seeing the game until towards the end of 2009. This isn't something unusual, but Square Enix promised that things were going to get better, not worse.
