No Surprise If Final Fantasy XIII Hits Xbox 360s In Japan

No Surprise If Final Fantasy XIII Hits Xbox 360s In Japan

Remember that good ol' rumour about Final Fantasy XIII hitting Japanese Xbox 360s? The rumour originated from a leak of a list of Xbox 360 achievements for the game on one of the largest and most reliable Japanese Xbox 360 sites.

Well, Darryl had the chance to sit down with Final Fantasy XIII's producer of Yoshinori Kitase himself and proceeded to prod him on the topic as much as humanly possible. Interestingly enough, Kitase would not deny the rumour and instead offered a "no comment" response.

"There's no information we can reveal, no new information sorry. We know that information has been looked at by many people, but we can't comment right now."

Make of that what you will, if you ask me, something must be up since he didn't shoot down the rumours.

UK Final Fantasy XIII TV Ad Banned By ASA

Mon, Aug 23rd, 2010, 11:10 am (EST) by Darryl
UK Final Fantasy XIII TV Ad Banned By ASA

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) have banned an advert in the UK which was showing off Final Fantasy XIII. They claimed that the advert was an inaccurate representation of the product. Why? Because it was an advert for the Xbox 360 version of the game, but it was using footage from the PS3 version.

Square Enix have attempted to claim that there are no discernible differences between the two versions of the game, but the ASA ran the games side-by-side and came to the conclusion that "Images from the PS3 version of the game were sharper than those on the Xbox 360. The PS3 image in video sequences appeared sharper and colours were more vivid than those of the Xbox 360."

Cosplay Of The Week: Lightning

Tue, Jul 27th, 2010, 7:32 pm (EST) by Colin
Cosplay Of The Week: Lightning

Alrighty, it's time for our cosplay of the week! Just to remind everyone, we've featured two lovely ladies previously and they are Stella (Sheila), who cosplayed a nigh-identical Stella Nox Fleuret, and blacklash90 (Jorlene) as Oerba Yun Fang from Final Fantasy XIII.

This week, thanks to the recommendation of blacklash90, I'm pretty ecstatic to feature one of her best friends, Tachibana Shizuka. She also goes by the name of RainerTachibana over at deviantArt. Now I've seen her cosplays before and let me just say this, they are amazing. The one in particular that we are featuring is her Lightning cosplay.

If Lightning was real, then we've found her.

News Roundup: New FF For Keitai Phones & FFXIV Release Details

Sat, Jul 24th, 2010, 10:00 pm (EST) by Colin
News Roundup: New FF For Keitai Phones & FFXIV Release Details

I think we've had a fair bit of news this week. Although most of them concern FFXIV, but that's no real surprise since it is Square Enix's next major release. Don't forget that it's out September 30, at least on PC.

First bit of news this week, Square Enix revealed Final Fantasy Legends: Warrior of Light and Darkness. Now that's an IP that was trademarked a while ago, but we had no idea what it was until this week. Apparently it's a title that looks to bring the classic Final Fantasy experience to cell phones, at least in Japan. No word on any North American release.

Rumours about FFXIII being released on the Xbox 360 in Japan hit the webs too. Although to be honest it doesn't really make all that much sense from a business perspective. The 360 isn't exactly doing very well in Japan and most people looking to get it would've gotten the long since released PlayStation 3 version.

Hit the jump for more of this week's coverage.

Final Fantasy XIII Gets a Drama CD

Wed, Jul 21st, 2010, 9:06 am (EST) by Alex
Final Fantasy XIII Gets a Drama CD

Final Fantasy XIII has very in-depth story to it, but the only way you can know the entire story is by reading the prologue called Episode Zero: Promise which is available on Final Fantasy XIII’s official site.

For those of us that are maybe too busy to sit down and read, Square Enix has created a Drama CD of Episode Zero called ‘Final Fantasy XIII Episode Zero Promise Fabula Nova Dramatica Alpha’. This will include the game’s voice actors Maya Sakamoto, Daisuke Ono and the others from the original cast. If you have already read the Prologue, there is also a bonus exclusive story on the CD.

The CD will be on sale on September 15 for 3,000 Yen. You may want get your copy as fast as possible because the first pressing has some collectors value as it contains a script booklet and a sleeve case. A hardcover print version of Episode Zero will also be available. Maybe Square Enix will release other episodes this way instead of just posting them online?

Rumour: Final Fantasy XIII Hitting Xbox 360s In Japan

Rumour: Final Fantasy XIII Hitting Xbox 360s In Japan

Final Fantasy XIII hit stores exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in Japan back in December 2009. That may now change though as an Xbox Achievements list for the game has surfaced on Japan's Xbox.com.

The news comes from XNEWS, probably Japan's largest Xbox information site. Interestingly enough, the majority of games that had their achievements lists leaked on XNEWS prior to an official statement were eventually released in Japan.

Final Fantasy XIII released in North America and Europe in March 2010 this year for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, however, the PS3 version managed to sell almost twice as many units than the 360. Considering the smaller 360 market in Japan, will releasing FFXIII on said platform be even worth the effort?
