Final Fantasy XIII Announcement Teased For Nov 13th
Posted on 2009/11/09 by Ronin90
A few days ago, Square Enix left a cryptic message on the official Final Fantasy XIII website, which said 'A Henchmen Inventor Tent Unto'.
Fortunately, some Final Fantasy XIII fans have been able to decipher the message, and have come up with a plausible message 'Announcement Nov Thirteenth'. Now, this might be completely wrong, but it's the best anyone's come up with so far.
Rumours are that it hints towards a Final Fantasy XIII release date for the West, which we really hope is true and I'm sure you all do too. Be sure to check back on the 13th of November to find out what the fuss is all about, if that is indeed what the message meant.

Final Fantasy XIII Announcement
Signs Point To Final Fantasy XIII Simultaneous Release
Posted on 2009/07/08 by Ronin90
Towards the tail end of last week, Square Enix announced that Dissidia: Final Fantasy would be released in Europe on the 4th of September, 2009. While this doesn't sound overly significant in itself, the date is only a week after the North American release.
For those who have been following Final Fantasy for some time, especially those in Europe, delays between regions are usually quite substantial. It's not uncommon for there to be a 4-5 month delay between the North American and European versions, and it's something that's always been very disappointing to European gamers.
However, the announcement that Dissidia: Final Fantasy will be coming so soon after is huge. Square Enix have gone on record numerous times about how much more detailed Dissidia's dialogue is than Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII's and if they can get the localisation done so efficiently on a game like Dissidia, it definitely looks positive for Final Fantasy XIII. There is of course The Last Remnant too, which was released worldwide on the same day and while Square Enix have claimed it's something they're striving to do, up until now it hasn't been overly evident.

Square Enix: Final Fantasy XIII Could Be Delayed Further
Posted on 2009/05/19 by Ronin90
In a meeting with Japanese press to discuss their financial forecast, Square Enix Holdings were quizzed about both Dragon Quest IX and Final Fantasy XIII. Both are obviously huge titles from an investors standpoint, and the answers given weren't exactly endearing.
When asked specifically about whether Final Fantasy XIII will be released within this fiscal year, the following reply was given:
"God knows. ... Is the truth (laughs). I'll try!"
So, although the Final Fantasy XIII demo issued Winter 2009 as the prospective Japanese release date, it looks like it might not even appear until after April 2010. Definitely not good news for Western gamers.

Final Fantasy XIII Delayed
Final Fantasy XIII Isn't Actually Taking That Long
Posted on 2009/05/05 by Ronin90
On the eve of the Eidos takeover, Yoichi Wada, Square Enix's CEO, came out and fielded questions about how things will work moving forward. One of the questions pertained to how Square Enix will influence their qualities on Eidos and Wada proceeded to offer a response that was rather unexpected.
Instead of suggesting that Eidos games will be approached with the same diligence that Square Enix titles are, he suggested that Square Enix actually spend too long developing titles and that he'd like to see shortened development cycles with the same amount of quality. Now, it's unknown how long games are actually in development for, but it's assumed that Square Enix have two teams that work on Final Fantasy titles, and that work on the new title generally starts 1-2 years before the release of the previous title.
When looking at a graph of how many years there have been between the releases of main Final Fantasy games, it doesn't necessarily back Yoichi Wada up; unless he wants more than one main Final Fantasy game a year, a move which would obviously saturate the market.

Final Fantasy XIII Potentially Delayed Until 2011 In Europe?
Posted on 2009/02/13 by Ronin90
Yesterday, Yoichi Wada (President of Square Enix) fielded questions about Final Fantasy XIII's future release date due to the delay of Dragon Quest IX and the news wasn't necessarily good. The purpose of this article is to analyse what his statements actually mean from a consumer's perspective as it probably isn't good news on the whole.
Dragon Quest IX was supposed to come out in the fiscal year of 2009. Fiscal years run from April to March, so the Fiscal year of 2009 runs from April 08 to March 09. What this means is that Dragon Quest IX is now going to be released in the fiscal year of 2010, when Final Fantasy XIII was scheduled to come out. Square Enix had planned for them to come out in different fiscal years, as they are the company's prospective biggest earning titles and would produce the largest amount of revenue. However, DQIX's delay has scuppered these plans.

Final Fantasy XIII Could Be Delayed Even Further
Posted on 2009/02/12 by Ronin90
Speaking at a financial briefing today, Yoichi Wada was asked to give answers regarding Dragon Quest IX's delay, and thus, how it could affect Final Fantasy XIII.
While Wada was dismissive of the question, he did say that it has it may influence certain decisions they have to make. He couldn't confirm or deny the rumour though, which has lead to speculation that it actually has some weight.
"We've yet to finalize our plans for the next term, so I cannot say for sure if there will or will not be an effect, but Dragon Quest's release being March or July changes the premise. I can't say that there won't be an influence."

Don't Blame Microsoft For Final Fantasy XIII's Release Date
Posted on 2009/01/16 by Ronin90
Following Yoichi Wada's announcement that Final Fantasy XIII would be released after April 2010 in North America and Europe, people started to point fingers. The first place those fingers pointed was of course Microsoft. Despite Square Enix saying that the Xbox 360 port won't slow down the release of Final Fantasy XIII, people don't necessarily believe this and Wada's comments have opened up a can of worms.
It is more than likely that Microsoft are indeed little to do with Wada's projected release date. It's more like that it's to do with Square Enix's own business dealings. Currently, Final Fantasy XIII in Japan is set to hit during the fiscal year which starts in April 2009. This will more than likely result in Square Enix seeing an increase in profits from 2008, which will please their share holders no end; everyone likes to make a profit on the last year. However, if they were to release Final Fantasy XIII in North America and Europe in the same fiscal year, their profits would be considerably higher. It's for this reason that it makes sense for them to release Final Fantasy XIII in those territories in the fiscal year beginning April 2010, so that profits don't dip year on year.

Wada: No Final Fantasy XIII Before April 2010
Posted on 2009/01/15 by Ronin90
Square Enix have announced that Final Fantasy XIII will be released at some point during 2009, but people were really curious about when Final Fantasy XIII would actually be hitting in North America and Europe.
During an interview with Reuters, Yoichi Wada (the president of Square Enix) announced that Square Exix had enjoyed good sales throughout the year, but that they will be releasing Final Fantasy XIII after April 2010 in order to make the sales count towards the following fiscal year.
While it's important to keep Square Enix's investors happy, it's a bit of a kick in the teeth for gamers in the west, as they have to wait so that Square Enix can satisfy their share holders.
