Let's Get Aerith's Theme Into The Classic FM Hall Of Fame

FFVII by Colin

I'm almost certain everyone here enjoys the music of Final Fantasy – midi, synth, orchestrated or otherwise, so it's high time our favourite classics actually top the charts. The Classic FM Hall of Fame is taking votes for the best pieces of classical music and we're joining in by going with Aerith's Theme from Final Fantasy VII.

Aerith's (or Aeris) Theme is a beautifully orchestrated piece scored by the legendary Nobuo Uematsu and has seen many an arrangement in a number of releases, including the original FFVII soundtrack, Crisis Core, Advent Children, Reunion Tracks, FFVII Piano Collections and as an additional vocal arrangement in RIKKI's Suteki Da Ne single, titled Pure Heart ~ Aerith's Theme.

The Classic FM Hall of Fame runs annually and selects 300 of the greatest classical music scored by amazing composers, including scores from films, but to our knowledge have yet to feature any music from video games.

The email is written to employees at Square Enix Europe, apparently asking for linguist experts to help with the localisation. It suggests that the Final Fantasy VII remake will be titled, Final Fantasy VII: Enhanced Version.

It will feature new high-resolution graphics, with locations fully rendered in 3D. There will also be an endless world, with incredible looking cities. Characters will look like they do in Advent Children and the music will also be completely remastered, with a few new tracks being composed too.

Kitase: Final Fantasy VII Remake Might Be Possible

FFVIIPS3 by Darryl

There has been a ton of speculation about a Final Fantasy VII remake ever since Square Enix showed off the Final Fantasy VII tech demo and Yoshinori Kitase, one of the minds behind Final Fantasy VII, has stoked the fire even more.

When speaking to TechDigest, Kitase said "If it were possible that we had all the right facilities and the right environment to be able to make and prepare a Final Fantasy VII remake within a year, we'd very much like a go at it."

So he's essentially saying that they want to do it, but they don't want it to take too much of their time. Surely it shouldn't take too long though, all of the game design is already done! They'd just have to get a crack team of modellers, animators and programmers on board.

Nomura: No Plans For Final Fantasy VII Remake... Yet

FFVIIPS3 by Darryl

Fans have long been craving a remake of Final Fantasy VII, but in the latest issue of Famitsu magazine, Tetsuya Nomura, the man behind the iconic character designs in FFVII, has again dashed their hopes.

Speaking on the subject, he said that there are as yet no plans for a Final Fantasy VII remake, but he hopes that Cloud Strife, will be able to make more cameo appearances in other Square Enix properties. He most recently appeared in Dissidia: Final Fantasy.

This will come as a disappointment to some, as Tetsuya recently announced that he was working on a franchise that would "give fans what they want" - it doesn't really leave many other options for what that game can be. He's also working on completing Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which he stated should see a lot more information revealed at this year's E3.
