Final Fantasy Versus XIII Voice Casting Underway

Mon, Aug 9th, 2010, 6:24am EDT by Darryl
Final Fantasy Versus XIII Voice Casting Underway

In a recent spate of information from Tetsuya Nomura, he has revealed that the voice cast for Final Fantasy Versus XIII is currently being selected, for the Japanese version at least.

When touching upon the development progress for Versus he stated:

"Agito and Versus have different production styles and progress states, but they're both presently undergoing voice casting."
At least some kind of progress is being made on the title, as opposed to it being stuck in limbo even more. It's also interesting that he seems to state that Agito is next in line, before Versus XIII.

News Roundup: Busy Week for Final Fantasy XIV

News Roundup: Busy Week for Final Fantasy XIV

Alrighty people, it's Friday, that means the end of a news week. Starting this week, we'll be doing a weekly news roundup for those that may have missed something during the week. Last week saw quite a bit on Fabula Nova Crystallis, what with the interviews with director Hajime Tabata, on how Agito isn't high up on their priority list. Famitsu also interviewed Tetsuya Nomura, revealing several screenshots as well as confirming that it'll be at the Tokyo Game Show.

Dengeki also managed an interview with Nomura this week who revealed that the scenario for Final Fantasy Versus XIII is 100% complete, along with character and clothing designs from Japanese clothing company, Roen.

This week, however, was more about Final Fantasy XIV. Square Enix sent out a press release on Wednesday, revealing the release dates for both the PC and PlayStation 3 versions. Unfortunately, PS3 users will have to wait until March 2011 to get in on the MMO action. Also unveiled was the pricing scheme for the regular and collectors editions, but most importantly, the subscription fee was set at an affordable $12.99 per month.

Final Fantasy Union: Episode 38

Final Fantasy Union: Episode 38

Despite no E3 showing, Final Fantasy Versus XIII has finally broken cover with an assortment of gameplay details. All that, and discussion of pirated versions of Dissidia, Final Fantasy Agito XIII hitting the development back burner, and Final Fantasy XIV not hitting the Xbox 360 at all, on this episode of Final Fantasy Union.

It's just Kyle and David this episode, also tackling questions about Final Fantasy XV (yes, XV), and the seemingly dropped sequel to Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII. Will we ever see Genesis Rhapsodos again?

Staff Blog: Square Enix's Priorities Are Completely Baffling

Staff Blog: Square Enix's Priorities Are Completely Baffling

So, I'm not sure if you guys saw the news last week, but Square Enix came out and said that Final Fantasy Agito XIII was a low priority for them right now. Personally, I'm really disappointed by this news. Agito XIII is a title I'm really looking forward to, mainly because it promises to be a really different proposition to a normal Final Fantasy title, but also because of what they achieved with Dissidia: Final Fantasy and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.

Now, I'm certainly not Yoichi Wada and I'm not entirely sure if I'd want to be. But I really can't fathom what's going through his head right now and I don't think many people can fathom what's been going through his head for the last few years. Surely it'd be better to concentrate on Final Fantasy Agito XIII, a game that they announced years ago and everyone's anticipating, than an addition to the Parasite Eve franchise, a franchise that's probably as niche as they come with regards to Square Enix's library.

Hajime: Final Fantasy Agito XIII Not A Priority

Thu, Jun 24th, 2010, 4:40pm EDT by Sean
Hajime: Final Fantasy Agito XIII Not A Priority

In an interview in Dengeki PlayStation, Hajime Tabata, the director of Final Fantasy Agito XIII and Parasite Eve: The 3rd Birthday, has revealed some new details about Agito. When asked about the development process, Hajime said that "The 3rd Birthday takes priority" and that the development of Agito is steadily progressing.

Hajime went on to warn fans that the game isn't what most FF fans would expect from the game. He explains that the story is going to have weight behind it and will affect the player. He also says there will be "some harsh portrayals" during the game. Kitase, Agito's producer, then joined in by explaining that players would witness characters being killed by fire.

Agito has long been in development and is part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation which includes Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. It was said that there would be a media blow out this year for Agito. However, with news that Agito isn't a priority, hopes of a 2010 release are slipping away.

Rumour: Final Fantasy XIV Coming To Xbox 360

Rumour: Final Fantasy XIV Coming To Xbox 360

It looks like someone has been doing some detective work, as a an online CV (Resume) has been found in which the individual represented, Yuuki Akama, claims to be working on Final Fantasy XIV for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. She's also apparently working on Final Fantasy Agito XIII and The Third Birthday, both of which will release on the PSP.

Final Fantasy XIV was initially unveiled during Sony's E3 press conference last year, but it was only announced for the PC and PS3. Since then, the director of the game, Hiromichi Tanaka, has stated that talks are ongoing with Microsoft, but that Xbox Live is seen as an issue - presumably they want charge people monthly, but don't want to charge them twice.

Whether it is actually being worked on remains to be seen, and whether the online profile is real also remains to be seen. Don't expect an official word from Square Enix any time soon though.

Final Fantasy Agito XIII 2010 Release Essentially Confirmed

Final Fantasy Agito XIII 2010 Release Essentially Confirmed

Square Enix recently announced that they would start releasing more and more information about Final Fantasy Agito XIII once Final Fantasy XIII is released in December. This strongly suggests that it will be the next title released under the Fabula Nova Crystallis umbrella.

It also suggests that Final Fantasy Agito XIII will be released in 2010, in Japan at least, as Square Enix seldom promote their products way ahead of time any more. Hype for Dissidia: Final Fantasy started around six months before its final release, and the same has happened with Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep.

It would be logical to assume that the game won't come in the first half of the year, but it could easily arrive in Q3 or Q4 of 2010. Either way, Square Enix are sure to announce an official release window towards the start of next year.
