Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Gets Larger Than Life App
Fri, Aug 13th, 2010, 9:54 pm (EST) by Alex
A while back, Square Enix released a CG gallery for the iPhone called Final Fantasy XIII Larger Than Life which brought high resolution images of Final Fantasy XIII to its users. An iPad version was also released which included some 3D images with it.
Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete has now got its own Larger Than Life gallery app with 83 images included. These images are a mixture of 3D rendered artwork and stills from the Blu-Ray Advent Children Complete which can be zoomed in and out and can also be used as backgrounds in the app’s calendar mode.
There are several characters featured from the Final Fantasy VII Compilation such as Cloud, Tifa, Aerith and Sephiroth. The app costs 700 Yen and is available now on the Apple app store.
Aromatic Candles Now On Sale For Advent Children
Mon, Jun 21st, 2010, 6:04 am (EST) by Darryl
No, I swear this isn't a joke. Square Enix really have added aromatic candles to their line-up of wacky merchandising. You'd have thought the Advent Children hype train might have died down by now, but Square Enix are apparently still keen to promote the movie and Cloud/Sephiroth candles seems to, in their minds, be the best way to do that.
This follows of course, the release of Cloud and Sephiroth Eau de Toilette a few weeks back and to be honest, you have to wonder what they're going to be adding next. Perhaps they'll start selling a working version of the Fenrir?
For those who're interested, and if you are, you probably already pre-ordered them anyway, the candles will retail for 2,200 Yen and will be available Fall 2010.
Square Enix Wins Court Battle In South Korea
05 August 2009 by Darryl
In 2007, a Korean company called Fantom started distributing a music video (Sonata of Temptation) by K-Pop star IVY that contained an unauthorized live-action scene-for-scene adaptation of a scene from Advent Children.
Square Enix filed an injunction and the Seoul Central District Court ordered Fantom to cease distribution and sales of the video in April, 2007. In March of the following year, it then decided that Fantom should pay approximately $250,000 in damages to Square Enix.
Fantom appealed the decision and the case was taken to the Seoul High Court. However, Square Enix were the victors again, and the damages needing to be paid were increased to approximately $325,000.

Square Enix Wage War On Piracy
21 April 2009 by Darryl
In a press release today, Square Enix issued a statement directly targeting those who wish to share the new Blu-ray edition of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete on the internet via illegal methods.
Square Enix have been getting a lot tighter with regards to protecting their Intellectual Property recently, and they've even started taking down footage from their games off of YouTube. In the press release it is claimed that they are continuously monitoring the internet, with selected sites (not mentioned) being earmarked as specifically garnering their attention.
Should websites be found to have the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete download available, they can be looking forward to communication from Square Enix which will initially come in the form of emails or letters.
