It has taken over a decade but Final Fantasy VII: On the Way to a Smile will finally be released in English on October 30, 2018.

This novel features a series of short stories set between the original Final Fantasy VII and its film sequel Final Fantasy VII Advent Children.

It was written by Kazushige Nojima, who wrote Final Fantasy VII's scenario with director Yoshinori Kitase and later wrote the film Final Fantasy VII Advent Children. He also worked with Sachie Hirano on the scenarios for Before Crisis -Final Fantasy VII- and Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-. And was also consulted on Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII- receiving a special thanks.

Right now, Nojima is the scenario writer for Final Fantasy VII Remake and scenario supervisor on Mobius Final Fantasy which has featured two large scale Final Fantasy VII events. One for the Remake and one for the original's 20th anniversary.

This English release is being published by Yen Press. It will cost $14.00 US and $18.50 CAN. It will be available as both a Trade Paperback and digitally.

Yen Press currently states that it will be available via AAA Anime, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Google Play, Indigo, Indiebound, Kobo and RightStuf.

The cover art has yet to be revealed but it should be very similar to the Japanese and French releases.
