Yoshinori Kitase, Shinji Hashimoto and Naoki Yoshida to join Square Enix's Board

Square Enix has announced that their Board of Directors will receive some big changes in a month's time.

On March 31, 2018 both Keiji Honda and Yukinobu Chida who have been with the company since its inception with both coming from Enix will resign from the company. They have both held major roles during their time at the company.

On April 1, 2018 many new Directors will join their Board.

Among these is the legendary Yoshinori Kitase who has been working at Square Enix since its inception and joined Square in 1991.

He started out working on Final Fantasy Adventure, Romancing SaGa and Final Fantasy V as a planner and/or writer. He would then direct and write Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger with others before he got to direct Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII by himself and where he would co-write the scenarios.

Kitase would start off as director on Final Fantasy X before being promoted to producer and head of Product Development Division 1. Since then he has produced many big titles including the Final Fantasy X series, Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, Dissidia Final Fantasy, The 3rd Birthday, Final Fantasy Type-0, the Final Fantasy XIII series and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster.

Since December 2013, Kitase has been the head of Business Division 1 where he manages both the division and development. He is currently serving as producer on Mobius Final Fantasy and the Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Next is Shinji Hashimoto, he has been with Square Enix since its inception and joined Square back in 1995.

Hashimoto started out working on the marketing and publicity of various titles including Final Fantasy VII and later Final Fantasy X-2 among other titles.

He has mainly worked as producer and executive producer on many titles however.

He started out producing games like Front Mission, Final Fantasy VIII, Chocobo Racing, Final Fantasy IX and Kingdom Hearts. While more recently producing games like Front Mission Evolved, World of Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy XV.

While he has been executive producing for almost as long starting out with Front Mission: Gun Hazard and various Final Fantasy ports. More recently his executive producing duties have largely gone up after serving as the corporate executive of the company's 1st Production Department during its existence until the end of 2013. He has executive produced the Final Fantasy XIII series, The 3rd Birthday, Final Fantasy Type-0, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age and various other Final Fantasy spin-offs, ports and Kingdom Hearts games.

Since December 2013 he has been the head of Business Division 3 and is currently serving as executive producer on various titles such as Final Fantasy VII Remake, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, Kingdom Hearts III and Left Alive. He is also the Final Fantasy Brand Manager and Kingdom Hearts Brand Manager.

And lastly, Naoki Yoshida who actually only joined Square Enix back in 2004.

He started out directing Dragon Quest spin-offs for arcades and Wii before serving as planner chief on Dragon Quest X.

He then would be the one asked by former Square Enix president Yoichi Wada to save Final Fantasy XIV after its disastrous launch in 2010. He has since produced and directed the MMO, relaunching it in 2013 and releasing two expansion packs in 2015 and 2017 respectively. Thus turning the game around completely.

He's still producing and directing it to this day. He has also been the head of Business Division 5 since the Business Division structure inception in December 2013. And he also manages its development. In addition to Final Fantasy XIV, BD5 is also incharge of Final Fantasy XI and develops the Dragon Quest Builders games.

All 3 have been serving as executive officers at the company since 2015 and will continue to do so along with their new roles as members of the Board of Directors.

The other additions to the Board of Directors are Yosuke Saito, Michihiro Sasaki, Hirokazu Nishikado, Kazuharu Watanabe and Dragon Quest Brand Manager Yuu Miyake.
