Takashi Tokita, a legendary Square Enix developer who was a director and scenario writer on Chrono Trigger has revealed in an interview with IGN that his newest game, Final Fantasy Dimensions II includes the overall idea for a cancelled sequel to Chrono Trigger called Chrono Break.

"There was actually a time when I planned a new title called Chrono Break,"

"Though it was canceled before accomplishing anything, the overall idea for the title was carried over to my latest game, Final Fantasy Dimensions II. Aemo’s character setting and the balance between the three characters at the beginning…these were based on the original concept [for Chrono Break] but were reworked for this title."

Tokita served as general director on Final Fantasy Dimensions II and was also incharge of the game design and scenario.

Final Fantasy Dimensions II is available in English and Japanese on iOS and Android as a premium title.
