Final Fantasy Ultimanias to finally be released in English

For many years fans have been jealous of Japan's Final Fantasy Ultimania books which include tons of exclusive artwork, information and interviews with the creators of the games.

But finally, they're going to be released in English.

Dark Horse and Square Enix will release Final Fantasy Ultimania Archive Volume 1 on a scheduled date of June 5, 2018.

This first volume will cover Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI.

It will have 336 pages in high quality hard-cover binding.

The description states it "remains faithful to its original Japanese source material while simultaneously offering unparalleled accessibility for Western readers."

You can pre-order it here.

A second volume most likely covering Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy IX along with a third volume most likely covering Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIV will be released after this.

I know I'll definitely be trying to get volume 3.

Hopefully after this they will release the Ultimania's for other Final Fantasy games like Final Fantasy X-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

I personally would love to see the Final Fantasy XIII series novels released in English. These helped fill in the gaps between the games and provided back story. Director Motomu Toriyama and lead scenario writer Daisuke Watanabe provided the original plan for these.

Maybe even the infamous Final Fantasy X-2.5 novella written by scenario writer Kazushige Nojima will be released in English.

These novels were all released in French a couple of years ago so it's definitely possible.
