Final Fantasy IV, V and VI now available on the New 3DS Virtual Console in Japan

In a bit of a surprise, Square Enix has released the Super Famicom versions of Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI for the New Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in Japan.

This marks the first time Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI have been playable on the Nintendo 3DS in any way and the first time the original version of Final Fantasy IV is playable.

These join the Famicom versions of Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II and Final Fantasy III which were released on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in Japan a few years ago. This means the original six Final Fantasy games are playable on the New Nintendo 3DS in Japan.

A release outside of Japan is unlikely since Square Enix has never released a game for the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in North America or Europe/Australia.

You can check out a trailer for each of them below.
