Final Fantasy XIV Overhaul Dubbed 'A Realm Reborn'

We've known that Final Fantasy XIV was due to re-launch for quite some time, after Square Enix proudly announced they were working on version 2.0 of their latest MMO. However, the game's producer/director has now made it seem much more grandiose.

Naoki Yoshida has claimed that the release of Version 2.0, which is now being dubbed Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, should be thought of as "the latest title in the Final Fantasy series".

There's still no word on when we'll actually see the next iteration of the game, with the latest trailer simply stating it would be "coming soon", but the PS3 version is due to launch in Q1 2013.

It will not simply be a re-jigged version of the game. Instead, it will feature a new world and a new storyline. There will also be a plethora of other additions to the game, but we've become used to that since Yoshida took over the reins.
