Final Fantasy Versus XIII Voice Casting Underway
Mon, Aug 9th, 2010, 6:24 am (EST) by Darryl
In a recent spate of information from Tetsuya Nomura, he has revealed that the voice cast for Final Fantasy Versus XIII is currently being selected, for the Japanese version at least.
When touching upon the development progress for Versus he stated:
"Agito and Versus have different production styles and progress states, but they're both presently undergoing voice casting."At least some kind of progress is being made on the title, as opposed to it being stuck in limbo even more. It's also interesting that he seems to state that Agito is next in line, before Versus XIII.
News Roundup: Busy Week for Final Fantasy XIV
Fri, Jul 2nd, 2010, 5:59 pm (EST) by Colin
Alrighty people, it's Friday, that means the end of a news week. Starting this week, we'll be doing a weekly news roundup for those that may have missed something during the week. Last week saw quite a bit on Fabula Nova Crystallis, what with the interviews with director Hajime Tabata, on how Agito isn't high up on their priority list. Famitsu also interviewed Tetsuya Nomura, revealing several screenshots as well as confirming that it'll be at the Tokyo Game Show.
Dengeki also managed an interview with Nomura this week who revealed that the scenario for Final Fantasy Versus XIII is 100% complete, along with character and clothing designs from Japanese clothing company, Roen.
This week, however, was more about Final Fantasy XIV. Square Enix sent out a press release on Wednesday, revealing the release dates for both the PC and PlayStation 3 versions. Unfortunately, PS3 users will have to wait until March 2011 to get in on the MMO action. Also unveiled was the pricing scheme for the regular and collectors editions, but most importantly, the subscription fee was set at an affordable $12.99 per month.

Rumour: Final Fantasy XIV Coming To Xbox 360
Wed, Feb 3rd, 2010, 6:15 am (EST) by Darryl
It looks like someone has been doing some detective work, as a an online CV (Resume) has been found in which the individual represented, Yuuki Akama, claims to be working on Final Fantasy XIV for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. She's also apparently working on Final Fantasy Agito XIII and The Third Birthday, both of which will release on the PSP.
Final Fantasy XIV was initially unveiled during Sony's E3 press conference last year, but it was only announced for the PC and PS3. Since then, the director of the game, Hiromichi Tanaka, has stated that talks are ongoing with Microsoft, but that Xbox Live is seen as an issue - presumably they want charge people monthly, but don't want to charge them twice.
Whether it is actually being worked on remains to be seen, and whether the online profile is real also remains to be seen. Don't expect an official word from Square Enix any time soon though.

Final Fantasy Shaping Up For Big Things In '09
05 January 2009 by Darryl
As far as things go, 2008 was actually quite a busy year for Final Fantasy, but the majority of the coverage took place on the handheld consoles. While this is great, Final Fantasy (especially the main series) has always been known for pushing the graphical boundaries, and while the PSP and DS are fine pieces of hardware, they can't really compete with the might of the PS3 and Xbox 360.
That's where 2009 comes in. It's time for the big boys to flex their muscles and hopefully they will be given licence to do that this year. That still remains to seen though, as the 360 might not get its chance to shine dependant on release dates, but here's hoping anyway.
We've outlined the Final Fantasy games you should be looking forward to this year, so check out the list after the jump.
Square Enix Set To Astound At Jump Festa 2009?
17 December 2008 by Darryl
Although Jump Festa doesn't have the same kind of worldwide recognition as the Tokyo Game Show (due to it primarily being a Manga Expo), it has still pulled a few surprises in the past. However, Square Enix are notorious for using this event to show off world exclusive material and with Jump Festa 2009 happening on the 20th and 21st of December, now is the perfect time to take a look at what we should expect from Square Enix at this year's event.
First off, Square Enix have only confirmed that they will be showing nine games at this year's event, and only two of them are Final Fantasy related. They are Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time. This was expected, but it's quite surprising that they aren't using the opportunity to plug Dissidia: Final Fantasy even more, despite all the promotion that they have been doing.
