Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy Announced

Dissidia 012PSP by Shawn

News and Scans Of Final Fantasy Versus XIII Surface

Versus XIIIPS3 by Colin

Information has finally surfaced for a game long gone underground! Tetsuya Nomura has revealed some delicious tidbits in this week's issue of Famitsu, highlighting the grand scope of Final Fantasy Versus XIII and just how ridiculously huge it really is.

"If you try to go all the way to the end, it's truly far," said Nomura.

The first scan shows off a battle between Noctis, Versus' hero, and a military-grade Behemoth in the middle of a sprawling city that's modelled after Shinjuku. Another scene includes a mass wilderness and a gasoline stand. All of this was captured in realtime on the PlayStation 3. Oh, and Nomura's looking to improve the visuals even further than what's already been seen.

Final Fantasy XIII North American Box Art Revealed

FFXIII by Kyle

Square Enix earlier released Final Fantasy XIII's European box art, and they have followed this up with North America's FFXIII PS3 and Xbox 360 box art.

The box art simply features Lightning and the Final Fantasy XIII logo. The image of Lighting is has been seen frequently in Final Fantasy XIII promotions before, include a desktop wallpaper on the official website for the game.

Box art for Final Fantasy titles in North America usually feature representations of characters, or a single character, so FFXIII has indeed followed suit in this case. However, the same box art will be used in Europe, where Final Fantasy games typically feature just the game's logo.

Final Fantasy XIII's Cid Revealed, Cid Raines

FFXIII by Kyle

Cid has been a recurring character in the Final Fantasy series for a long time, and Final Fantasy XIII will be continuing that tradition. Shonen Jump, a Japanese magazine, has revealed new character Cid Raines, who looks to be a non-playable character.

A scan of the Final Fantasy XIII spread in Shonen Jump magazine features the new Cid. He is said to be a Brigadier in a military group not associated with the other military group in Final Fantasy XIII, called PSICOM.

One image in the scan looks like Cid is actually wielding a weapon much like Lightning's transforming gun/sword. Oerba Dia Vanille is also featured with her summon, and two other characters currently without official names.

New Scan Features Cactuar, Enormous Dinosaur Monster, and More

FFXIII by Kyle

The latest Shonen Jump features a spread about Final Fantasy XIII, complete with new visuals of monsters and environments. With the release date set for December 17th, it's almost surprising it's just one spread, but then again Shonen Jump isn't the only magazine in Japan.

On the right-hand side of the spread is an enormous dinosaur-like monster that literally towers over Lightning and company. The dino is likely the largest creature in Final Fantasy to-date, if not one of the largest. Nevertheless it's unclear if you can actually fight the monster, or run up to it in-game. There is also a large Cactuar, and what appears to be a behemoth, much like the supposed behemoth on the highway in the original Final Fantasy XIII trailers.

The left-hand side of the spread features a few new environment shots, as well as Lightning's party. The environments are mostly wide shots, showing off some deep valleys and high bridges and towers. In the center Lightning appears to be dashing towards a plant, but it's also unclear if the plant is actually some sort of enemy.
