There has been a whole host of updates relating to the cast of Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV in the past week and we have seen some awesome looking screenshots that highlight the amazing work that the various VFX studios have been doing.
In this article, we are looking to detail everything we know about the actors/actresses who are currently associated with the characters in Kingsglaive. Everyone's aware of the involvement of Lena Headey, Sean Bean and Aaron Paul, but you might be surprised to know how much we do currently know outside of that.
We'll start off with the main characters, then take a deep dive in some other performance artists who have stated they are involved with Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, but haven't yet stated the capacity in which they are involved.
Updated on 2nd of June, 2016: Libertus Ostium's English VA has been included.
Main Cast of Characters
At the present time, we are aware of ten (maybe eleven) characters who are appearing within Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. This currently excludes Noctis Lucis Caelum, even though he appears within the movie poster, as there has been no official confirmation that he will have an active role within the film.
Nyx Ulric, the protagonist of Kingsglaive
Nyx Ulric was revealed as the main protagonist of Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV at Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV back in March, 2016.
We know that aside from being the lead character, Nyx was taken in by King Regis at a young age and now feels indebted to him. He has exceptional fighting skills, taught to him by Drautos, has a strong affinity with the magical powers of the Lucis family and is close friends with Libertus Ostium, due in-part, to the fact they are from the same town.
During the film, Nyx is made responsible for protecting Lunafreya Nox Fleuret as the Niflheim Empire attack the city of Insomnia.
The voice actor, as revealed during Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV, will be Aaron Paul. He appeared on stage alongside Lena Headey to talk about the project and what it means to him. Paul, known for his work on Breaking Bad, has actually been involved with video game movies before, taking up the lead role in the ill-fated Need for Speed film adaptation.
On the same day, we also found out who was used for the likeness of Nyx, although it flew under the radar for quite a few of us.
Johan Akan, a french model, revealed his role was Nyx on Instagram by posting the above picture. He has since updated his profile to state that he is "Nyx for FFXV".
Neil Newbon, a motion capture artist who has worked on numerous video game projects including Homefront: Revolution, Horizon: Zero Dawn and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, also revealed that he had been working as the performance artist for Nyx.
Newbon was in LA for Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV alongside Liam Mulvey and Andrea Tivadar where they showed off the world premiere of the movie's trailer.
In the Japanese version of Kingsglaive, it has been revealed that Gou Ayano will be voicing Nyx.
Regis Lucis Caelum CXIII
Regis Lucis Caelum, based on the likeness of Jon Campling
Regis Lucis Caelum was another of the characters revealed to be in Kingsglaive at Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV. However, despite featuring in the initial trailer interacting with numerous characters from both sides, little is known about his active role within the film's plot.
Although he was not in attendance, Sean Bean was revealed as the voice over artist for King Regis. Of course, cue rife speculation about Regis dying during the film, something which isn't all that implausible given the plot of Final Fantasy XV.
There had also been some interest into why King Regis' face had changed so much from the days of Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Hajime Tabata, the Director of Final Fantasy XV, had explained that it was due to the strain of being King of Lucis. Another reason, was that they were now using the likeness of Jon Campling for Regis. Campling, known for his work within the Harry Potter film franchise, confirmed that he was now being used as the likeness for Regis in both Kingsglaive and Final Fantasy XV.
In the same update, Campling also revealed that he had done all of the performance capture for Regis in Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV.
In the Japanese version, Regis Lucis Caelum will be voiced by Tsutomu Isobe.
Lunafreya Nox Fleuret
Lunafreya Nox Fleuret will be voiced by Lena Headey in Kingsglaive, but not Final Fantasy XV
Lunafreya Nox Fleuret was the third Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV character shown off and named at Square Enix's Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV event on the 31st of March, 2016. The above screenshot is from a recent batch of images released for Kingsglaive and highlights that Lunafreya will have a slightly different look in the film compared to Final Fantasy XV.
Appearing at the live event, Lena Headey, known for her roles in Game of Thrones, 300 and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, joined Aaron Paul on stage to confirm that she would be the voice over artist for Lunafreya. However, she later tweeted in response to a fan question that she would not be reprising her role as Lunafreya in Final Fantasy XV.

As yet, it is unknown who has provided the likeness and performance capture for Lunafreya in Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, but we do know that Shiori Kutsuna is voicing her in the Japanese version.
Ardyn will be using the likeness of Edward Saxby for Kingsglaive
Ardyn Izunia has been part of the Final Fantasy XV mythos since the name change from Final Fantasy Versus XIII back in 2013. As with Lunafreya, we can note that for Kingsglaive he has a slight visual change compared to his appearance within Final Fantasy XV.
Part of this may be due to confirmation that the likeness of Edward Saxby would be used for Kingsglaive. Saxby, who has appeared in numerous commercials, music videos and fashion shoots, revealed the news on the day of Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV via Instagram.
In the same post, Saxby also disclosed that he was used as the performance artist for Ardyn Izunia, leaving only the voice over artist unconfirmed at this point.
Crowe Altius was leaked as a character before Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV
Crowe Altius was shown in the original Kingsglaive trailer during Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV, but was not named at the time. This has only happened within the last few days, but there has been some confusion regarding the casting for this role.
A few days prior to Uncovered, a character called "Crow" was listed on the Final Fantasy XV IMDB page as played by Alexa Kahn. However, Kahn herself has never confirmed this.
Andrea Tivadar on the other hand has confirmed that she has been used as the likeness for Crowe. Tivadar was at the Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV event alongside Neil Newbon and Liam Mulvey, but also took time to post a photo on Instagram with Takeshi Nozue, the Director of Kingsglaive.
Unconfirmed at the moment are Crowe's voice over artist and performance capture artist in the English version, but she will be voiced by Ayumi Fujimura in the Japanese version. We also do not know if Crowe will be making an appearance in Final Fantasy XV.
Libertus Ostium is said to be a cheerful character
Libertus Ostium, who was shown off in the original Kingsglaive poster (bottom-left), was recently given a full character reveal. Not only was the character's name confirmed, but we also found out that Libertus and Nyx are good friends that hail from the same town.
On the 7th of April, 2016 Liam Mulvey hinted that he might be one of the cast members when he tweeted a picture of a Famitsu magazine cover that featured the Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV poster.
In the tweet, Mulvey, who has appeared in numerous film shorts and in stage performances, also tagged Jon Campling, Neil Newbon and Will Bowden. After further rumours, following a surfaced LinkedIn profile, Mulvey confirmed his role as Libertas on the 25th of May, 2016.
On the 2nd of June, 2016, Mulvey also confirmed in a tweet to Final Fantasy Union that he would also be coiving Libertus and providing motion capture.
@ffunion Very impressive. Very comprehensive. To confirm, I am face, motion and voice of Libertus. IMDB will hopefully update soon!— Liam Mulvey (@liam_mulvey) June 2, 2016
In the Japanese version of the movie, Libertus will be voiced by Mitsuaki Kanuka.
Other Named Characters
Luche Lazarus is one of the other named characters appearing in Kingslaive
There are four other characters that have been named in Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. Two of them were revealed at Uncovered as prominent villains (Iedolas Aldercapt and Glauca), while the other two were only recently given more background as members of Kingsglaive (Luche Lazarus and Drautos).
Aside from small story details, such as Drautos being the commander of Kingsglaive, nothing is currently known about the actors portraying these characters in the English version. For the Japanese version, we know that Kouichi Yamadero is voicing Drautos and Tomokazu Seki is voicing Luche.
Confirmed Actors/Performance Artists
In addition to named characters that have no confirmed actors/performance artists, there are actors/performance artists who are confirmed to be part of Kingsglaive, but have not revealed how.
- Will Bowden notes that he has been used as a motion capture, performance capture and voice over artist on Kingsglaive. On IMDB, Bowden is listed next to a character called Pelna, but when asked about this connection, Bowden stated that he was under NDA and would share more when he can.
