Square Enix Set To Astound At Jump Festa 2009?

Square Enix Set To Astound At Jump Festa 2009?

Although Jump Festa doesn't have the same kind of worldwide recognition as the Tokyo Game Show (due to it primarily being a Manga Expo), it has still pulled a few surprises in the past. However, Square Enix are notorious for using this event to show off world exclusive material and with Jump Festa 2009 happening on the 20th and 21st of December, now is the perfect time to take a look at what we should expect from Square Enix at this year's event.

First off, Square Enix have only confirmed that they will be showing nine games at this year's event, and only two of them are Final Fantasy related. They are Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time. This was expected, but it's quite surprising that they aren't using the opportunity to plug Dissidia: Final Fantasy even more, despite all the promotion that they have been doing.

Two notable omissions are Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII. Obviously Square Enix felt that they'd been gaining enough coverage recently, but it could also hint that Final Fantasy XIII is more pressing due to it potentially having a release date that's sooner than the other two titles in the Fabula Nova Crystallis franchise.

Due to Square Enix's reputation at Jump Festa, we could well be in for some big news relating to Final Fantasy XIII as they are renowned for showing off extremely potent material at Jump Festa. Last year, for example; Dissidia: Final Fantasy was playable for the first time, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days was also announced alongside Final Fantasy IV: The After. So, this either points towards a massive Final Fantasy XIII announcement, or the announcement of a new big game (i.e. Kingdom Hearts 3!).

We've got our fingers crossed, hopefully you have two.
