Heidegger

FINAL FANTASY VII

VILLAIN / MINOR CHARACTER

Nicknamed "Gya ha ha" by Reeve due to his perculiar laugh, Heidegger is believed by many ShinRa employees to be an idiot. Even so, he is still ShinRa's highest ranking official and he is the head of "Public Safety" aka The Military. Because of this, he is often seen working alongside Scarlet, who is the head of Weapons Development.

Heidegger's first major involvement in the Final Fantasy VII plot comes when he concurs with President Shinra with regards to dropping the Sector 7 plate in order to destroy AVALANCHE. He also agrees that there should be a Neo Midgar built in the Promised Land, when it is found.

Rufus Heidegger Laugh

Gya ha ha h.. - Shut Up!

When Rufus becomes the new President of the ShinRa company, Heidegger organises his Welcoming Ceremony which is to take place in Junon. Seeing this as the perfect way to suck up to his new boss, Heidegger leads the parade himself and even rewards the soldiers who performed well in the special salute.

Rufus isn't overly amused though and even remarks that he dislikes his stupid laugh. However, Heidegger still joins Rufus as they continue to search for Sephiroth - the black caped man.

Going Out With A Bang

Although Heidegger manages to survive Diamond Weapon's assault on the ShinRa tower, he doesn't fare so well shortly afterwards as he joins up with Scarlet to try and stop Cloud from entering Midgar.

Proud Clod - the robot they piloted - gets destroyed and then it explodes, which is believed to have killed Heidegger in the process.

BEFORE CRISIS: FINAL FANTASY VII

VILLAIN / MINOR CHARACTER

Frustrated by the end of the war against Wutai, Heidegger is itching to get his army back into action. When AVALANCHE invaded Junon, he sees this as the perfect chance to show the might of ShinRa once again.

As well as commanding the military for this operation, he also attempts to command the Turks too, as Verdot has been temporarily removed from command. Heidegger shows an extreme level of incompetence though and almost allows AVALANCHE to take the city's airfield.

Incompetence Wins

Although Verdot regains control of the Turks after this, he doesn't remain in control for very long and Heidegger is placed in charge of the Turks; a position that he holds for a very long time.

DIRGE OF CERBERUS: FINAL FANTASY VII

MINOR CHARACTER

As with Crisis Core, Heidegger is only mentioned in passing during Dirge of Cerberus. When Reeve is talking about Deepground, he mentions that Heidegger was one of the only ShinRa executives that knew about the activies in Deepground.

CRISIS CORE: FINAL FANTASY VII

MINOR CHARACTER

Heidegger doesn't actually appear in Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, but he is mentioned via conversations.

When Director Lazard is presumed to be a traitor, and then infact killed, Heidegger takes over from him as the new Director of SOLDIER.
