Cid

Final Fantasy I

Minor Character

The initial storyline of Final Fantasy I has no mention of Cid, but due to his massive connection with the francise since then, Square Enix saw fit to include him in remakes of the original game.

While he doesn't actually appear in the modern versions of the game, he does have a brief mention as he is believed to have been the inventor of the airship that's found in the game.

Not only that, but he is also believed to be of Lufenian descent. However, he is no longer alive when the game actually takes place.

Final Fantasy VII

Playable Character

Cid appears in Final Fantasy VII as a playable character in the form of Cid Highwind, a resident of Rocket Town who uses a Dragoon's style of fighting. He is initially met when Cloud visits Rocket Town, and he leaves with them on the Tiny Bronco before deciding to join them in their fight against Sephiroth.

Final Fantasy X

Minor Character

Cid is the leader of the Al Bhed and is first mentioned by Yuna, after she is kidnapped by the Al Bhed. She mentions that Cid is her mother's brother and that if she ever needed anything, she should seek him out. Cid also happens to be the father of Rikku and Brother.

Cid is behind the kidnappings as he doesn't want any more summoners to sacrifice themselves to bring about the Calm. He is sure there must be another way to defeat Sin and doesn't want people needlessly giving their lives away.

Captain Of The Fahrenheit

Cid is a proud Al Bhed and he loves his machina. Towards the beginning of the game, Tidus helps the Al Bhed uncover some Machina in the sea, which turns out to be the Fahrenheit, an airship.

Cid uses the Airship to first destroy Home, and then transport Tidus and the others to rescue Yuna from Bevelle. It is also crucial on the assault that they wage on Sin.

Final Fantasy X-2

Minor Character

Following the events of Final Fantasy X, Cid decided to capitalise on the lack of care anyone had anymore about the Chamber of the Fayth and the holy lands of Spira. He decided to turn Zanarkand into a tourist attraction, but ceased his operation after Rikku complained.

After this happens, Cid can be found in the engine room of the Celsius, where he performs maintenance on the ship.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Minor Character

Cid Highwind makes a brief cameo appearance in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, as he comes to aid his former comrades with the assistance of the Shera. He helps them to defeat Bahamut SIN, but that is his only real involvement in the feature film.
