You'd be forgiven for thinking that the Final Fantasy X HD remake had disappeared off the face of the planet. After all, it's been an awful long time since we heard anything about it.
That may continue to be the case, but at least Square Enix Europe seem to be aware of our need for information! When responding to a tweet from a user about this very subject, Square Enix Europe said that "The world will get answers soon, we promise."
Good news everyone! Square Enix has just launched a website which will allow gamers to apply to be a beta tester on the upcoming relaunch of Final Fantasy XIV, which is also known as A Realm Reborn.
This is fantastic news for people who've been wanting to check out the new game, especially as the process is also open to people with a PS3 console. Yes, Final Fantasy XIV on the PS3 is finally happening!
By holding the beta, Square Enix hope to "examine the game systems, address the balance and prioritize bug fixes."
Oh boy, today is a good day! After the trailer from Jump Festa, Square Enix has now decided to unleash a plethora of images for the upcoming Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy.
The images show off gameplay footage, but some are also used to pose questions and explain gameplay details. The ones showing off gameplay look rather impressive and it looks as though Lightning has been given a bit of a makeover, outside of the new get-up.
The information-based images shed a little bit more light onto the city of Luxerion, but also explain about the combat and some of the enemies that Lightning is going to face while you plough through the game.
Wow, what a 2012 it's been for the world of Final Fantasy! We've seen a few new games, but not only that, we were also able to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy.
Myself and the staff would like to start off by thanking each and every one of you who visit this website. Without you, what we do on the site wouldn't be the same and it's still very heart-warming to think about what this site has been able to achieve from its humble beginnings.
2012 kicked straight off with the release of Final Fantasy XIII-2, the sequel to 2010's Final Fantasy XIII. It focussed on the story of Lightning, Serah and Noel - all of whom we had the chance to speak to throughout the year.
Since their reveal for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII over the summer, Square Enix have been pretty quiet. That is, until a recent Japanese magazine published Lighting's new look.
A rather comical artist's impression of the new look appearing on the internet yesterday, but we've now got official confirmation that Lighting will be donning some rather formidable armour for her new outing.
Going along with a recent Square Enix survey, which asked fans to say what they liked about Final Fantasy XIII's main protagonist, we decided to follow suit. After all, if they can do it, why shouldn't we be able to?
To that end, this episode's Burning Question also revolves around Lightning, one of the leading lights in Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy. We'd like to know What do you like, or dislike about Lightning?.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 sold less than Final Fantasy XIII, so there are clearly some of you out there that didn't pick up the sequel. Perhaps you just thought it would suck, or perhaps it was too expensive. Either way, with Christmas around the corner, Amazon has made this title super cheap - there's no excuse!
If you're even remotely clued in with anything that's been going on this year, you should have noticed that Square Enix and Final Fantasy fans around the world have been celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Final Fantasy. Yay!
We have been pretty quiet about it thus-far in terms of our written content, although if you listen to the podcast things have been a little bit different. However, that's all going to change. There were plans at the start of the year to play through each of the main games (swapping in XIII for XI) and do extensive features, but other commitments unfortunately got in the way.
Instead, in the build-up to Christmas, we're going to try and post a different piece of content roughly each day, to try and mark what makes Final Fantasy a special franchise for us here on Final Fantasy Union. Please also feel free to share your thoughts too! To start things off, what better place than Final Fantasy I.
