So, it turns out that Square Enix are releasing a massive bumper edition of Final Fantasy XIII-2 in Japan.
It'll be called the Digital Contents Edition and will include all of the major Coliseum Opponents (like Lightning, Jihl Nabaat and Gilgamesh), the majority of the Final Fantasy-specific costumes (including the White/Black Mage), some weapons and the Sazh, Lightning and Snow DLC Episodes.
It'll cost 5,040 Yen when it releases on the 16th of July, 2013. However, Square Enix are allowing you to download all of this DLC for 2,100 Yen if you already own the original version.
At the recent Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII preview event we were able to sit down with Yoshinori Kitase and Motomu Toriyama.
Kitase started things off by talking about his vision for Lightning Returns. This started by talking about how Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2 shipped 9.7 million copies worldwide.
These will make up almost 10 percent of the 100 million Final Fantasy games sold over the past 25 years. He noted that the main reason for this success in regard to Final Fantasy XIII is mainly from Lightning's popularity.
This week, a new character has been revealed for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII called Lumina. She looks a lot like Serah and has been said to be both a help and a hindrance to Lightning.
Also revealed is the Wear system. Lightning will have many new costumes and by changing them in the game, she will be able to change abilities and equipment. Players will be able to set three different types of Wear which can be changed in battle. This could be similar to the Dress Spheres in Final Fantasy X-2. So far, there have been two Wears revealed which are ‘Dark Muse’ which consists of a knife, a camouflage jacket, pants with wide-holes and a shield and ‘Alone in a Sandstorm’ which resembles samurai armour.
Finally, Lightning will be getting new spells and abilities as well as being able to guard and evade. Lightning can also receive quests from a bulletin board and by completing these quests; she will be given a time extension.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII has been announced to be released on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 this year.
You'd be forgiven for thinking that the Final Fantasy X HD remake had disappeared off the face of the planet. After all, it's been an awful long time since we heard anything about it.
That may continue to be the case, but at least Square Enix Europe seem to be aware of our need for information! When responding to a tweet from a user about this very subject, Square Enix Europe said that "The world will get answers soon, we promise."
Good news everyone! Square Enix has just launched a website which will allow gamers to apply to be a beta tester on the upcoming relaunch of Final Fantasy XIV, which is also known as A Realm Reborn.
This is fantastic news for people who've been wanting to check out the new game, especially as the process is also open to people with a PS3 console. Yes, Final Fantasy XIV on the PS3 is finally happening!
By holding the beta, Square Enix hope to "examine the game systems, address the balance and prioritize bug fixes."
Oh boy, today is a good day! After the trailer from Jump Festa, Square Enix has now decided to unleash a plethora of images for the upcoming Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy.
The images show off gameplay footage, but some are also used to pose questions and explain gameplay details. The ones showing off gameplay look rather impressive and it looks as though Lightning has been given a bit of a makeover, outside of the new get-up.
The information-based images shed a little bit more light onto the city of Luxerion, but also explain about the combat and some of the enemies that Lightning is going to face while you plough through the game.
Since their reveal for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII over the summer, Square Enix have been pretty quiet. That is, until a recent Japanese magazine published Lighting's new look.
A rather comical artist's impression of the new look appearing on the internet yesterday, but we've now got official confirmation that Lighting will be donning some rather formidable armour for her new outing.
