Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection Gets English Trailer

PSP by Colin

Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection, slated for release on the PSP on April 19, has a trailer in English! Yay!

The Complete Collection comes with both the original Final Fantasy IV and The After Years on one single UMD. Both titles feature enhanced visuals and additional scenarios have been added to the original game, although Square Enix have yet to actually talk about that in detail.

The After Year was initially released on mobile phones and WiiWare as episodic titles. It follows Ceodore, the son of Cecil and Rosa. Familiar faces like Rydia, Edge and even Kain return. He goes onto kidnap Rosa again kind of like how Bowser constantly kidnaps Princess Peach even though everyone knows he's Mario's bud.

Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection Releasing Soon

by Darryl

Square Enix has revealed that they'll be releasing a new version of Final Fantasy IV called Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection. As you've probably guessed already, it'll include everything to do with Final Fantasy IV thus far.

Yes, that means it will have the original SNES game (Final Fantasy II for you non-pure North Americans), but it will also include Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, an extended episode which was released on Japanese mobile phones. To make it even more irresistible some Amano artwork will also be included.

For Europe, it currently has a release date of "Spring 2011", but in North America it's down for April the 19th, 2011. It'll be releasing on PlayStation Portable

First Screens of Final Fantasy IV PSP Are out

PSP by Colin

Final Fantasy IV The Complete Collection was announced earlier this week for the PlayStation Portable. It combines both the original SNES version of Final Fantasy IV with its sequel, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, that came out for cell phones in Japan and later on WiiWare.

Apparently the game is playable at the Jump Festa event this weekend. Square Enix are adding extra scenarios to bridge the gap between the original and sequel as well as a gallery mode.

The collection is set for release this coming Spring.

Square Enix At TGS 2008: What To Expect

MusingsFFXIIIVersus XIIIPS3WiiPSPDS by Darryl

The Tokyo Game Show hits town at the end of next week, so I thought it would be the perfect time to talk about what Final Fantasy fans should be looking to expect from Japan's premier gaming expo.

The first glaring observation is that while there are 25 games (excluding Advent Children Complete) on show from Square Enix at the event, only 6 are Final Fantasy orientated, and one of them - Final Fantasy XI - isn't exactly a new kid on the block. Also, out of the 9 games that will be playable, only 2 are Final Fantasy tites - Dissidia: Final Fantasy for the PSP and Final Fantasy IV: The After for Mobile Phone devices. It seems slightly odd that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time isn't even going to be displayed by Square Enix considering it is supposed to be released at the start of 2009, but given the fact it was only announced earlier this week, I guess it's to be expected.

TGS 2008: Final Fantasy Line-Up Unveiled

FFXIIIVersus XIII by Darryl

The 2008 edition of the Tokyo Game Show is almost upon us and Square Enix have seen fit to announce which games they will be showcasing at the event. They will actually be showing a total of 32 games, but only 7 of them are related to the Final Fantasy brand.

Here is a list of the titles:-

* Final Fantasy XIII (Playstation 3)
* Final Fantasy Versus XIII (Playstation 3)
* Final Fantasy Agito XIII (Playstation Portable)
* Final Fantasy Dissidia (Playstation Portable)
* Final Fantasy XI (Playstation 2, PC, XBox 360)
* Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete (Blu-ray)
* Final Fantasy IV: The After (DS)

It's interesting to note that while Final Fantasy Agito XIII has been updated for the PSP, Final Fantasy XIII has the Xbox 360 noticably missing.
