Square Enix has just announced that if you buy Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy and The 3rd Birthday, you will be entitled to 50 percent off the upcoming re-releases of Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II on the PlayStation Network.
Final Fantasy is due for release on the 16th of February, and buying Dissidia Duodecim will get you 50 percent off of that via a redeemable code. Final Fantasy II is due for release on the 2nd of March and buying The 3rd Birthday will allow for the same discount on that.
Both versions are the "ultimate editions", so they include all the extras that have been packed in over the years, such as artwork and a few extra dungeons.
Square Enix and Nintendo have finally released Final Fantasy I outside of Japan on the Wii's Virtual Console. The game was released on Japan's Virtual Console earlier this year, the start of a move to release all of the pre-PlayStation Final Fantasy games on the console.
The original game on the NES, as the name suggests, was supposed to be the "final" game released by the company, due to financial difficulties. After stellar sales in Japan and later North America, the series has grown into a immense franchise with a devout and large following.
Final Fantasy I can be bought on the Wii Shop Channel's Virtual Console for 500 Nintendo Points. It can be played with the Wii Remote, Classic Controller, and the Nintendo GameCube controller.
