New Dissidia Gameplay Footage Explains HP System

by Darryl

Two new videos have been released on the Square Enix's official Dissidia: Final Fantasy website which attempt to explain the system by which Hit Points (HP) and Brave Points work.

The characters "share" Brave Points, not HP. There are two types of attacks in Dissidia, Brave Attacks and HP Attacks. Brave Attacks will steal your opponents Brave Points and add them to your own. An HP Attack does damage to your opponents HP equal to that of your Brave Points and using up your Brave Points in the process.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy Trailer 2 Analysis

PSP by Kyle

While Trailer 2 came out a little while ago, we felt that it would be a good idea to try and highlight some crucial points that appeared during the trailer. This may be pointing out characters who people might not know, or by talking about aspects of the game which may or may not be in the final product.

Square Enix At TGS 2008: What To Expect

MusingsFFXIIIVersus XIIIPS3WiiPSPDS by Darryl

The Tokyo Game Show hits town at the end of next week, so I thought it would be the perfect time to talk about what Final Fantasy fans should be looking to expect from Japan's premier gaming expo.

The first glaring observation is that while there are 25 games (excluding Advent Children Complete) on show from Square Enix at the event, only 6 are Final Fantasy orientated, and one of them - Final Fantasy XI - isn't exactly a new kid on the block. Also, out of the 9 games that will be playable, only 2 are Final Fantasy tites - Dissidia: Final Fantasy for the PSP and Final Fantasy IV: The After for Mobile Phone devices. It seems slightly odd that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time isn't even going to be displayed by Square Enix considering it is supposed to be released at the start of 2009, but given the fact it was only announced earlier this week, I guess it's to be expected.

Dissidia Downloadable Content A Possibility?

MusingsPSP by Darryl

Square Enix have announced that Dissidia: Final Fantasy will have a roster of only 20 characters, which will be comprised of two from each game in the series between Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy X. Each game will only have one protagonist and one antagonist present, which could leave some fans feeling a little bit peeved, as some games had more than one solid candidate for inclusion.

It is well publicised that Square Enix initially wanted to put Seymour in as the Final Fantasy X villain, but had to put in Jecht due to his ties with Tidus. Had Seymour Guado been included, the presence of Yuna would have been required. But wouldn't it be great if they gave fans some degree of choice?

New Dissidia Gameplay Footage: Warrior of Light vs Garland

PSP by Darryl

Some new video footage has been released by Square Enix which shows a full battle between Garland and the Warrior of Light. Both first appeared in Final Fantasy I, so it's only fair that they should be seen duelling off in this Dissidia gameplay video.

Surely Cloud Strife Has To Be In Dissidia?

MusingsPSP by Darryl

Weekly Musings is something that I'm sure will be quite unique to Final Fantasy Union, as (hopefully) every week I will post random thoughts about events surrounding Final Fantasy. These could be related to modern affairs, or just things that happen to crop into my mind.

Either way, I hope you enjoy the article and if you do, remember to subscribe to the RSS Feed and check back next week for more Weekly Musings!
