Dissidia 012: Final Fantasy's Gets Drowned Out, Sells Poorly

Dissidia 012 by Darryl

Dissidia 012: Final Fantasy launched last week in the UK, but it failed to register inside the Top 40 UK video games charts for this week - something which must surely been seen as a huge disappointment for Square Enix.

It's not too surprising though, when you think about what else released in the same week. Firstly, Crysis 2 and The Sims Medieval, and then of course, the Nintendo 3DS. It's still quite baffling why Square Enix decided to launch it on the same day as the 3DS.

If you're on the fence about the game, you should definitely check it out. Our parent site GamingUnion.net gave it 9/10, and said it was a pretty big improvement over the original Dissidia.

I realise I'm a little bit late posting it up here, so if you've read it already I apologise. But if you haven't, you should definitely check it out.

We had a great time playing it, and enjoyed it much more than the original Dissidia. So if you're on the fence, give the review a read and then make a decision.

User Review: Dissidia 012 Prologus Review By axel11

Dissidia 012PSP by Colin

Hey there ladies, gents and everything else! What we have here is something new we're trying out, and that is a user review! Our first user review is of Dissidia 012 Prologus, written by community member axel11. Check it out below and feel free to send us your own reviews too!

Dissidia 012 Prologus went up on the PlayStation Store on Tuesday, March 15 for $3.50 - tax included. Along with the demo, the download also includes a file that unlocks Aerith as an assist character in the main game.

The battle system remains pretty much the same, though the chase scenes are much faster in pace. Some attacks also have longer combos, so even a close range attack farther reach than in Dissidia. Since there are faster and farther reaching attacks, blocking has become a must. This could result in a small learning curve for those who mainly dodged in Dissidia. The graphics remain the same, even in cutscenes, which is a slight disappointment.

Staff Blog: Dissidia 012 Hits Stores This Week

Dissidia 012PSP by Colin

Alrighty folks, it's been a while since FFU was properly updated, but we've been busy working on a number of things, including getting the comments system back on track. Just wanted to shout out a reminder that Dissidia 012 [duodecim] Final Fantasy finally hits stores later this coming week, on Tuesday in North America and Friday in Europe.

If you're lucky enough to be in the UK, you can get your hands on the Legacy Edition for the same price. It includes in-game bonus content like the exclusive outfits for Tifa and Squall, as well as six lithograph prints of the new heroes.

Prologus is out on PSN, if you haven't already acquired it. It runs at $2.99 and follows Lightning prior to the events of Duodecim. The story, dubbed The Twelfth Cycle, is rather short and you're not really missing out on anything. However, the arcade mode provides more than enough content for the $2.99 price tag, giving players the chance to try out Lightning and Kain as well as a few previously established characters through a series of random arcade battles.

Don't forget, you unlock Aerith when you purchase Prologus as well.

And that's all folks, we'll hopefully be back in full swing soon. Although with Dissidia 012 out, I wonder what news we can look forward to now that Square Enix has gone underground with Versus, Type-0 and XIII-2 yet again.

Dissidia 012 Prologus Getting Western Release

Dissidia 012 by Darryl

Square Enix has announced that the Dissidia 012: Final Fantasy demo, dubbed Prologus, will be releasing on the PlayStation Network next week.

The demo, like the Japanese release, will be a paid affair, costing $2.99 in North America. No European price has been stated yet, but it's likely to be similar.

The demo will allow you to take items over to the full game, and it will also allow you to have access to Aerith as a support character in the full game too. So if you're a huge Aerith fan, this is the only way you'll be able to get your grubby mitts on her.
