Final Fantasy XIII-2 is just over the horizon and so it's time to meet your heroes and villains. Starting today and leading up to the game's release, we'll be presenting a brief synopsis of key characters and their roles in FFXIII-2.
First up are Serah Farron, Noel Kreiss and their furry little companion Mog. Don't worry, there are no spoilers here. Make the jump to read more about the trio.
Square Enix and Microsoft have paired up to create a special weapon DLC for Serah in Final Fantasy XIII-2.
The "Azrael" weapon, named after the angel of death, is said to have the ability to change your fate and it upgrades your chain bonus when equipped. The Xbox 360 exclusive weapon may be purchased from Chocolina (chapter 2 and onward in the main game) for 80 Microsoft points. The DLC will be available on Feburary 7 in Europe and PAL territories.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is available for North America on January 31 and Europe on February 3.
Now that Square Enix has released Final Fantasy XIII-2 in Japan, they have released a trailer to show their line up of DLC which will be coming to Japanese gamers very soon. The trailer shows off a new costume for Noel, two new costumes for Serah (one of which is a bikini), a costume for Lightning and a new monster to fight and recruit, Omega.
Square Enix continues to promote Final Fantasy XIII-2 by giving us a closer look at two of aspects of the game: the many enviorments featured in the game and the Historia Crux System.
The environment video shows footage of Serah and Noel exploring the terrain, pointing out that you can revisit familiar places or discover and explore new ones over different periods of time.
This other video is four and a half minutes long and focuses a lot on the Historia Crux system, the menu's appearance and how the system works. Also shows off the accessiblitiy of choccobos and some field locations such as Bresha and Academia.
Just about a week before it's release in Japan, Square Enix releases a small TV commercial for Final Fantasy XIII-2.
The trailer itself is 15 seconds long and solely consists of cutscene footage, most of which we've already seen in the previous trailers with a couple of exceptions. In one still, Yeul is seen sitting on a sofa that was in the Narthex of Orphan's Cradle from Final Fantasy XIII. At the very end of the trailer Lightning, still in her Guardian Corps uniform, stands before Etro's shrine and sheds a tear.
What could all this mean? Seems like we'll have to wait till Final Fantasy XIII-2's release in Japan on December 15, in North America on January 31, and in Europe on February 3 to find out.
Square Enix have released two additional videos showcasing the difference between modes in Final Fantasy XIII-2's battle system.
One video is entitled Battle-Basic- while the other is Battle-Expert-. The two trailers give a taste of how gameplay is like during the two modes and show off various locations and battle mechanics, such as the Feral Link system. So far, we've have been receiving insight on Final Fantasy XIII-2's gameplay system through reports, impressions, and screenshots. Today, we get to see for ourselves the features of the enhanced battle system in action.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 utilizes the same battle system seen in the first game, complete with Paradigm Shifts to keep players on their feet. The difference is that Square Enix have made a number of enhancements, including removing posing animations every time a paradigm shift is performed and cinematic action sequences. In addition, the third party member is now a monster that can be recruited throughout the game.
Only 15 days till Final Fantasy XIII-2's release in Japan. The game is out for North America on January 31 and Europe on February 3.
Two video game corporations, Square Enix and Ubisoft, collaborated to make one very interesting piece of DLC for Noel in the upcoming Final Fantasy XIII-2.
With this DLC, you'll be able to dress Noel in same outfit worn by Ezio in Assassin's Creed Relevations. Now you can truly make your way through the towns and battle lurking monsters, assassin style! With the new focus on customization, characters will don whatever costumes and weapons they are equipped with even during in-game cutscenes.
Details regarding the DLC's price and release date will be announced soon. Final Fantasy XIII-2 is due for a release in North America on January 31 and Europe on Feburary 3.
